Communications and Marketing Manager

HIT Strategies, a progressive Washington, DC research firm, is seeking a Communications and Marketing Manager to create innovative and creative programs attracting viewers to our media. The Communications and Marketing Manager leverages current events and moments to create leading stories and media strategies, inspiring viewers to engage our researchers, issues, and content. This is a full-time exempt position.

The Communications and Marketing Manager is a dynamic storyteller who is skilled in driving online or product marketing campaigns. They can effectively brand and create partnerships that increase awareness.The ideal candidate has the talent for recognizing and resolving written and verbal communications risk and the experience navigating newsrooms, cycles, and the press. We work closely with high-profile political organizations and candidates, so interest in electoral politics, social activism, and advocacy work is required.

Earned Media

  • Track and monitor tv, digital/ print publications, podcasts, and radio outlets, news cycles and headlines to identify where HIT can earn [monthly] media that reaches HIT's client target audience, across each research pod
  • Engage and direct press to HIT's research and facilitate bookings for interviews and op-ed deadlines
  • Support researchers as they publish quarterly op-eds by creating news briefs and digital clip books, and forwarding media with relevant stories/data
  • Collaborate with publicist to write press releases and pitch media outlets for interview, op-ed public speaking, and podcast opportunities
  • Collaborate with publicist, researchers, and national initiative partners to execute press briefings and press conferences to garner credibility and popularity among target journalists


Owned Media
  • Extract content from our public and independent research to create assets for online and print distribution of data stories
  • Build an in-demand trove of video, articles, infographics and other media assets that cover issues addressed by our research portfolio


Cause and Product Marketing (Online)
  • Collaborate with graphic designers to create marketing collateral and assets
  • Develop annual cause marketing email campaigns for the various segments of our target audience
  • Leverage online assets to expand our list of marketing prospects each year, including our website, social media channels, and advertisements
  • Execute effective monthly integrated online campaigns to drive conversion of traffic from unique visitors into enlisted prospects, followers, leads, and customers


Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, Communications, or related field
  • 3-5 years of relevant communications and marketing experience including all of the following:
  • Driving online cause or product marketing campaigns
  • Creating partnerships increasing brand awareness
  • Navigating newsrooms, cycles, and the press
  • Industry experience in public opinion research, market research, social advocacy, nonprofit, and/or electoral campaigns
  • Strong writing samples of brand, cause and/or service marketing materials
  • Proficiency in HubSpot, LinkedIn, Google Analytics, or other marketing tools


The following qualifications are preferred but not required:

  • Experience creating instructional animated videos and graphics


Salary and Benefits
  • Annual salary range: $80,000 - $85,000
