About the Position

This requirement for staffing support falls under the Office of External Affairs (OEA) of the Development Finance Corporation (DFC), the U.S. Government's development finance institution. DFC is the U.S. Government's development finance institution and works to mobilize private capital in the economic and social development of emerging market economies.

The Office of External Affairs is DFC's first line of communication with the public. OEA is tasked with raising the profile of the agency in order to meet DFC's obligation to disclose the agency's work to the general public and meet DFC's obligations to its authorizing committees in the United States Congress.

The Content Specialist at DFC's Office of External Affairs plays a pivotal role in crafting compelling written materials to communicate the impact of DFC's investments and priorities. This position involves researching, writing, and editing a diverse range of communication materials, including success stories, website content, marketing materials, blogs, remarks, social media content, and more. The specialist collaborates with data-focused teams to translate financial and impact data into engaging external storytelling.

Responsibilities:

  • Research, write, edit, and clear a wide range of DFC communications content, including success stories, marketing materials, and blogs.
  • Draft content for DFC's social media platforms, including Twitter, LinkedIn, Facebook, and Instagram, and clear and post as needed.
  • Support the development of a messaging repository and story bank for use across DFC's communications portfolio.
  • Coordinate internally to draft and clear content for a wide variety of digital and printed marketing products. Liaise with OEA's editorial and visual communications teams to produce multimedia communications materials for social media platforms, websites, events, communications campaigns, and related activities.
  • Collaborate with data-focused teams to gather and translate financial and impact data for external storytelling.
  • Provide writing and editing support for special projects and assignments.
  • Collaborate with other departments to gather data on DFC projects for public-facing storytelling materials.
  • Organize and maintain calendars for internal special emphasis months and campaigns.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in journalism, English, communications, or related field.
  • Minimum of 3- 6 years of experience in media relations, preferably in a communications or journalism role.
  • Proven experience in writing and editing for diverse audiences with keen attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and meet tight deadlines.
  • Exceptional organizational and time-management skills.
  • Excellent grammar, spelling, and punctuation skills.
  • Strong research and analytical skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to multitask.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and communicate effectively with various stakeholders.
  • Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and subject matter experts.
  • Experience in researching and translating complex data into accessible content.
  • Familiarity with government, development, and financial services industry topics.
