The Role:

The Senior Event Sales Manager will expand the company’s Special Events line of business and meet revenue targets by prospecting to unearth qualified opportunities via outreach, as well as actioning select inbound leads, networking and cultivating lasting business partnerships. In addition the Senior Event Sales Manager will have hands-on involvement in all aspects of the qualified-client’s journey, including in-person / web-based sales meetings, site visits at SPYSCAPE in NYC, event planning meetings, tech checks / rehearsals, and working in tandem with the Events Coordinator on onsite event execution.

LOCATION: This is a hybrid position based in Midtown Manhattan with the option to work remotely from home up to two days per week. This is a new position being added to an existing Events team, and the Senior Event Sales Manager will report to the company’s Senior Vice President.

Responsibilities:

The Senior Event Sales Manager will plan, coordinate, and execute new business efforts, pertaining to the company’s Special Events line of business, as well as ensure as-promised execution of all deliverables, as follows:

  • Hunting: Prospecting for qualified meeting and event opportunities

  • Outreach & Networking: Connecting with prospective clients via active outreach efforts (via phone & email), developing and executing campaigns in CRM, building relationships with buyer members of industry association chapters, inviting prospective clients to site the venue and attend SPYSCAPE-hosted FAM events, etc.

  • Proposals, Sites & Pitches: Create quotes and proposals using CRM and integrated proposal platform, and present proposed solutions to clients. Conduct sites to demonstrate value and solutions to clients, including priming the Events Coordinator and other colleagues with key info about opportunity, client and event goals.

  • Action Select Inbound Leads: Respond when needed to select inbound leads generated from website inquiries (size, sector and scope of said inbound leads is TBD)

  • Close deals: Identify needs of qualified prospects, align solutions, submit quotes & proposals, convert to contract, ensure payments are received

  • Record Activity: Document in CRM all email correspondence, detailed notes from calls/meetings, key documents (e.g. proposals, contracts, invoices)

  • Relationship Management: Cultivate lasting client relationships, provide ongoing support as needed, expand business reach within existing client accounts

  • Support Execution: Partner with Events Coordinator and Operations to ensure comprehensive hand-offs, proper pre-event planning, and smooth execution of events - including in-person participation in planning meetings, event setup and event execution

  • Process Improvement: Gather client feedback and recommend improvements internally for an optimal customer experience

  • Cross-selling: When appropriate and with management approval, sell ad flights across SPYSCAPE Podcast Network’s highly ranked series, promotional brand takeovers of SPYSCAPE HQ in NYC, and engagements with SPYEX experts for training, speaking and consulting

Requirements & Qualifications:


  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Communication, Journalism, or related field

  • 2+ Years - B2B Sales / Business development experience

  • 2+ Years - Experience in Meetings & Events, and/or Hospitality & Tourism (ideally in a B2B sales or sales support role)

  • 2+ Years - Usage of CRM (preferably HubSpot)

  • Existing network of B2B buyer contacts in the meeting & events industry

  • Demonstrated ability to hunt / unearth new prospects & leads, close sales and generate repeat business

  • Ability to articulate growth using business metrics and ROI

  • Understanding of Google Workspace applications

  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to plan, prioritize and execute tasks

  • Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously

  • Base salary ranges from $85-$115k. This position also offers commission, total estimate salary ranges from $150k-$196k.
