Overview:

Our client is seeking a Specialist, Market Development who will be instrumental in identifying future applications and market segments for our polyethylene products. Reporting to the Leader, Polyethylene Pricing and Market Development, the Market Development Specialist is responsible for identifying and vetting emerging applications and markets where the client’s polyethylene technology and products can play a leading role.

What you will be doing:

Identify emerging applications and market segments for polyethylene based on market and societal trends and customer needs with a 5-to-10-year view
Assess these opportunities for their fit to the company’s products and technologies now and in the future
Develop an understanding of the requirements to serve each market or application, including required certifications, and quantify the profit potential for the company
Develop business cases, including investment recommendations, as necessary to create a prioritized opportunity pipeline and secure stakeholder endorsement
Coordinate cross functional activities for new product or application developments needed to pursue priority opportunities
Develop the marketing plan, including necessary collateral, for initial participation in a market or application
Build relationships across the industries and applications related to emerging trends and market research
Lead a small cross functional team to establish sales and a presence in selected markets or applications and develop the roadmap to grow in this area

What you must have:

A University graduate in business or technical field with at least 3+ years’ experience in market development or marketing. An MBA is highly preferred
Experience with a top tier management consultant with plastics or petrochemicals is preferred Demonstrated commitment to Responsible Care®
Ability to dissect large amount of information and data, as well as summarize and communicate both internally and externally
Highly proactive, takes initiative, results oriented, strong problem solver, and a positive and constructive thinker
Clear and effective communicator with the ability to be persuasive and influential in communications
Strong business acumen and knowledge of the business-to-business sector
Ability to translate emerging trends and long-term strategy into tangible opportunities
