SUMMARY

Under the direction of the Chief Information Officer, you will play a significant role in the overall content strategy for the Boston Planning and Development Agency (BPDA) website. The BPDA is Boston’s Planning and Economic Development Agency. Every day our passionate team works to build a better Boston through planning, urban design, development review, and employment and workforce development opportunities. We are committed to informing and engaging Boston residents, visitors, business leaders, and others about what’s happening, and how they can become an active participant in our city’s growth. The Senior Web Content Manager will protect the overall consistency of the user experience and coordinate content for the website.

GENERAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Oversees the Web Content Specialist day to day activities
  • Work with Web Content Specialist on a daily basis to review tasks and prioritize
  • Oversee and manage all aspects of digital tools (CMS, Mailchimp and connections between Salesforce and CMS, WordPress, etc.)
  • Work closely with IT technical staff to maintain and implement improvements to digital tools, and acquisition of new tools as needed
  • Work closely with Communications staff to refine processes and ensure technical Communications needs are met
  • Act as the primary contact for stakeholders to discuss website content and improvements to website
  • Analyze and suggest improvements to current IT web content processes including streamlining and automating connections between website CMS and other digital tools
  • Achieve and maintain standard of web accessibility; make ongoing recommendations
  • Regularly review Google Analytics to suggest improvements to website UI
  • Manage and train staff on Salesforce data entry as it relates to their job responsibilities

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Work requires a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent plus a minimum of 3 years of full time professional experience in web content creation, web content management, communications, journalism or related field and at least 1 year of supervisory experience.
  • Must have demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment and with all levels of management. 
  • Must have the HTML and CMS skills
  • Working knowledge of Salesforce is required
  • Knowledge of web technologies, standard concepts, best practices and procedures, including: content management systems, web analytics, XHTML, CSS, and Adobe CS suite. 
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and manage multiple projects - some self-initiated - with various timelines is necessary.
