Communications Faculty

POSITION SUMMARY:
The Division of Humanities and Liberal Arts seeks a full-time faculty member in the Communications Department with expertise in teaching public and inter-personal communications, journalism, and social media. The successful candidate will have a minimum of three – five years of in-person teaching experience at the college level. In addition, the candidate must have experience teaching students of diverse backgrounds and first-generation college students. Experience teaching photojournalism and multimedia is a plus.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Teach public speaking and inter-personal communications as foundational general education courses.
- Teach media literary, social media, and diversity in the media
- Outstanding written and oral communication skills
- Ability to present material effectively through diverse teaching methods.
- Teach 24-credit hours across 9- months with ability to teach during the day, five days a week.
REQUIREMENTS:
- M.A. or above in Communications or Journalism.
- 3-5 years of teaching public speaking or inter-personal communications at the college level.
- 3-5 years of teaching media literacy, social media and/or diversity in the media.
- Work experience that demonstrates proficiency in working with first generation students is preferred.
- Experience in teaching communications (oral and written) within an active learning and interdisciplinary frame is preferred.
- Experience teaching photojournalism and/or multimedia is a plus.
