Position Overview
Under general supervision, perform Communications job functions as assigned by management. Job responsibilities primarily include photography and videography, supporting, managing, and deploying internal and external stakeholder communications processes. The specific work assignment may include duties or activities that assist and support management in one or more of the following functional areas, in addition to other duties as assigned:
- Capture photos and video of project progress and events
- Compose, edit and/or revise written, online, or broadcast messaging
- Respond to stakeholder feedback (written, electronic, face-to-face);
- Represent the organization in various stakeholder forums;
- Support interaction with local and national news media to further organizational messaging goals and respond as needed to media queries;
- Support planning, material preparation, and execution of public and stakeholder events;
- Assist with content and process management within the department;
- Assist with the development and deployment of visual media;
- Assist with formulation and deployment of strategic, targeted communications planning;
- Assist with tracking and evaluating media coverage;
- Perform duties of general/routine-to-moderate complexity in nature;
- Other job-related duties as assigned
- Maintains knowledge of and demonstrates ability to perform work safely by all approved safety policies, procedures, and applicable regulations and performs assigned duties in a safe manner
- Actively participates in Safety Work Groups
Minimum Requirements
- A BA/BS degree in a related field and one year of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience, is required. Typical experience ranges from one to four years or a strong portfolio.
- Experience in videography or photography
- Experience in some or all phases of video production or photo editing
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Excellent PC skills, including Microsoft Office and Adobe Creative Suite software or equivalents.
- Proficient in journalistic writing, including Associated Press style requirements, and capable of deadline-pressure production.
- Willing to work flexible hours.
Working Conditions
- Work in an office in a typical environmental restoration atmosphere (outdated or abandoned facilities or industrial field environments). May also work at off-project sites representing the organization at various types of locations throughout the community for business purposes. Potential exposure to equipment movement hazards, dangerous chemicals/solvents, or hazardous and radioactive materials if proper safety procedures are not followed.
- Ability to perform sedentary to light work, exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally (any exertion
of force/lifting greater than 45 pounds requires the usage of a two-person “buddy system”), non-repetitive, up to 20 pounds of force frequently, or up to 10 pounds of force constantly, repetitive; performing such
activities include lifting, lowering, carrying, pushing, pulling, standing, walking, grasping, kneeling, stooping, and reaching. - Ability to perform primary office duties, including heavy computer usage.
- In some cases, radiological training may be required.
