Elementary School Teacher
Report to: Principal
Supervises: Elementary School Students
Salary Range: $50,000 - $80,000 annually
FLSA Status: Exempt
POSITION SUMMARY
The Elementary School Teacher at Milpitas Christian School is responsible for instructing and motivating students to learn and master the curricular goals, standards, and benchmarks. This role will integrate a modern Christian worldview with current technology and educational standards. They will communicate regularly with students and parents to provide up-to-date academic and behavioral progress of their students.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Curriculum and Lesson Planning
- Develops and implements curriculum and lesson plans to foster knowledge and skills essential to student learning;
- Creates hands-on and project-based lessons to build excitement for learning Math, Social Studies, Bible, Language Arts, Reading, Writing, S.T.E.A.M., and Science;
- Demonstrates concepts using models, technology, and other standard or teacher-prepared instructional aids for inquiry based learning; and
- Evaluates each student's progress in their knowledge and skills in all core subject areas and maintains student records.
Student Engagement
- Implements engaging teaching and learning methods, and incorporates curriculum standards;
- Inspires and motivates students to learn and integrates effective classroom management strategies;
- Models Christian values;
- Assists in planning activities, programs, and learning experiences that align with the mission of Milpitas Christian School;
- Establishes and maintains cooperative working relationships with students, parents, and other school personnel; and
- Regularly communicates with parents regarding individual student's progress.

QUALIFICATIONS
- Be a professing believer of Jesus Christ;
- Sign and follow MCS Statement of Faith & Morality & Ethical Integrity Policy;
- Excellent oral and written skills, organizational skills, and the ability to interact effectively with coworkers, students, families, and outside contacts are essential;
- Possess an authentic fulfillment in working with children while loving them and serving in the calling of Christian Education.
EDUCATION
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution is required;
- Master's degree is preferred.
CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, AND REGISTRATIONS
- Current valid CA or other state teaching credential preferred;
- Obtain ACSI Certification within 1 year;
WORK EXPERIENCE
Preferred prior classroom teaching experience is preferred.
KEY SKILLS SET
- Ability to engage students in a school environment while serving in the calling of Christian Education;
- Knowledge of age-appropriate teaching methods, state curriculum standards, education code, and appropriate instructional subjects;
- Must exhibit a high level of confidentiality;
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, and the ability to interact with coworkers, students, families, and outside contacts;
- Strong organizational, time-management, and problem-solving skills; and
- Team player.
EQUIPMENT AND APPLICATIONS
- Working knowledge of Smart/Interactive Boards; and
- High proficiency in Google Suite, Educational Software, etc.
