President, Angus Media

The American Angus Association is now accepting applications for the President of Angus Productions Inc. (Angus Media) in its St. Joseph, MO office. This position is responsible for providing strategic leadership for the company by working with the Angus Media Board, the CEO of the American Angus Association (the Association) and other members of management to establish long-range goals, strategies, plans and policies for all Angus Media platforms. The position will oversee the budget for Angus Media, working with the Association CFO to ensure the company’s resources are properly allocated.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Oversee the development of strategies and tactics to ensure the core mission of Angus Media and its platforms are met through its three core functions: communications, services, and breed promotion.
• Responsible for managing the overall budget for Angus Media and ensuring that revenue targets are achieved, and expenses fall within the approved budget.
• Lead the innovation of print and digital media integration across all Angus Media platforms.
• Responsible for establishing and approving all advertising contracts and ensuring that they are consistent with Angus Media Board policy.
• Responsible for developing, managing and implementing the marketing plan for the Angus Media in coordination with the Association’s marketing strategies.
• Monitor advertising in all Angus Media publications to assure that ad layouts are innovative, professional, and effective, and that ad reproduction is adequate.
• Responsible for promotion of the Angus Journal, Angus Beef Bulletin, and Creative Media services to commercial and industrial advertisers and breeders.
• Represent Angus Media at major shows, sales, events, and industry meetings.
• Work with the Angus Media sales team to identify and acquire new customers and to promote and sell advertising, sponsorship, and marketing opportunities across all platforms.
• Continually evaluate all communications platforms for quality and effectiveness.
• Work with the Association Director of Communications to determine focus and scope of Angus Media content across communications platforms and to ensure efficiency and effectiveness.

• Must have working knowledge of the Beef Industry.
• Approximately 30% travel is expected for this position.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

• Bachelor’s degree or master’s degree in agricultural communications, journalism, broadcast media, business administration and/or other applicable fields, or equivalent work experience.
• Must have at least 10 years of related industry experience.
• Industry work experience with a breed association, publication, sales and/or marketing is a plus, but not required.
