Lucas Public Affairs, a strategic communications and public affairs firm located in downtown Sacramento, seeks qualified applicants for a full-time, paid internship to assist with client work and general office responsibilities. Applicants must be current or graduating college students, prior work or volunteer experience in government, communications, public affairs, or related fields is a plus. The ideal candidate is enthusiastic and looking to gain valuable public affairs experience.Core Values | Philosophy

- $20 Hourly
- Monday - Friday 8:30 a.m. - 5:30 p.m.
- Hybrid Work Schedule based on the needs of the business - 3 days in the office required
- The start/end dates of the internship are flexible and subject to change
- Monitor news media for clips relevant to client projects, issues, agency interests
- Create and manage databases
- Capably conduct research and synthesize findings for account teams
- Assist with event planning and support
- Monitor legislative and policy hearings and lectures
- Support administrative responsibilities, such as scheduling calls/meetings, handling phones, filing, and other office-related duties as needed
- Support client work through writing assignments, meeting notes, report preparation, and related duties
- Work efficiently and responsively in a fast-paced environment
- Contribute to the firm's culture, through agency initiatives & events to support a collaborative and collegial work environment
- Accurately track and enter time on timesheets
- Supporting client work through writing assignments, report preparation, and related duties
- Supporting administrative responsibilities include handling phones, filing, setting up for in-person meetings, ordering office supplies, and other duties as assigned
- Interest and experience working in government, politics, and communications
- Strong verbal and written communication skills (previous experience writing public affairs or journalistic documents is a plus)
- Experience with Microsoft Office programs, Internet-based research, and social media platforms
- Ability to work effectively and efficiently in a fast-paced environment
