Digital Reporter Essential Job Functions (Full Description):

Content Creation:

• Generate timely and engaging digital content, including news articles, features, and multimedia elements, to cover a broad range of agricultural topics.
• Conduct thorough research, interviews, and fact-checking to ensure accurate and high-quality reporting.
• Write quickly and accurately for our fast-paced content creation team.

Reporting:

• Cultivate relationships with local farmers, agricultural experts, and community leaders to stay informed about regional and national developments and emerging trends.
• Attend relevant events, conferences, and community gatherings to build connections and gather firsthand information.

Digital Storytelling:

• Utilize various storytelling formats, such as photo essays, videos, and interactive elements, to enhance the impact and accessibility of stories.
• Collaborate with the digital team to integrate visual and audio elements into digital content.

Digital Platform Management:

• Contribute to the overall editorial strategy for LancasterFarming.com.
• Work closely with the editorial team to ensure the website is up-to-date, well-organized, and aligned with audience interests.

Adaptability and Innovation:

• Stay informed about digital journalism trends, emerging technologies, and industry best practices to bring innovative ideas to the team.
• Adapt storytelling techniques to suit the evolving preferences of digital audiences.

What are we looking for?

• Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Communications, or a related field.
• Proven experience in digital journalism, including writing and multimedia content creation.
• Strong writing, editing, and storytelling skills, with an understanding of AP style.
• Familiarity with SEO best practices and digital analytics.
• Social media proficiency and experience using it as a journalistic tool.
• Knowledge of agricultural topics and rural issues is advantageous.
