The Writer/Editor plays a critical role in crafting engaging and high-quality content while ensuring accuracy, clarity, and adherence to A-G’s branding and style guidelines. This position involves both writing original content and editing existing content to meet editorial standards. The candidate should have experience implementing government publishing office style, American Psychological Association style, and any other publication guidelines required by government agencies. Familiarity with equity terminology is a plus.


Responsibilities:

  • Content Creation: Produce compelling and original written content for various platforms, including articles, blog posts, social media, marketing materials, and more.
  • Editing: Review, revise, and edit content for grammar, punctuation, style, and coherence, maintaining a consistent tone and style across all materials.
  • Research: Conduct thorough research to gather accurate information, verify sources, and ensure content credibility.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with the content team, designers, and other stakeholders to develop content strategies and align messaging with organizational goals.
  • Proofreading: Ensure all content is error-free, fact-checked, and ready for final submission.
  • Style Guide Adherence: Uphold brand guidelines, style guides, and editorial standards to maintain consistency in messaging and tone.
  • Content Optimization: Optimize content for SEO and audience engagement, incorporating relevant keywords and best practices.
  • Stay Updated: Keep abreast of industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies in content creation and editing.
  • Proposal Development: Collaborate with other writers to respond to RFPs, RFIs, and other bid opportunities by using critical thinking data gathering and technical writing.


Requirements:

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as a writer/editor or similar role, preferably in a related industry for at least 2 years.
  • Excellent writing and editing skills, with a keen eye for detail and a strong command of grammar and style.
  • Proficiency in utilizing editing tools and software (e.g., Grammarly, Adobe Suite, etc.) and working with Microsoft Sharepoint.
  • Extensive experience using Microsoft Word, including Track Changes, formatting, and layout functions.
  • Familiarity with SEO principles and content optimization techniques.
  • Strong research skills to gather and validate information from various sources.
  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment and meet deadlines.
  • Adaptability to quickly learn and adhere to brand guidelines and style requirements.
  • A degree in English, Journalism, Communications, or a related field is preferred.

  • Meetings and Presentations: Ability to participate in meetings, workshops, and presentations, which may involve standing or walking for short periods.
  • Travel: There may be occasional travel for meetings with clients, stakeholders, or team members.
  • Analytical Thinking: Mental focus and concentration are important for analyzing complex business processes and data.
  • Collaboration: Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams, which may involve physical presence in team meetings.
