Nurse Practitioner

The Morongo Basin Community Health Center is looking for a provider to see patients in our Federally Qualified Health Center. With a Healthcare Provider Shortage Area (HPSA) score of 19, our providers are eligible for loan forgiveness through Health Resource and Services Administration (HRSA). We are located 30 minutes outside of Palm Springs in the beautiful high desert of southern California. Our service area has Joshua Tree National Park in its center.

We are looking for providers that want some flexibility but care about the patients and want to provide quality care along with our team of excellent providers. This position will be covering two locations in Yucca Valley and 29 Palms.

DUTIES
 Diagnoses and provides treatment for patients with chronic illnesses, diseases and injuries
 Obtain medical histories from patients and parents
 Conducts yearly physical examinations
 Orders and performs diagnostic testing and interprets results
 Prescribes medication, physical therapy and other treatments based on patient's diagnosis or test results
 Recognizes signs of substance abuse or addiction and takes steps to get patient into an appropriate treatment
program
 Provide family planning to women
 Provides well child care such as immunizations, sports physicals and other screenings
 Conducts gynecological exams and pap smears
 Recognizes signs of mental or emotional illness inpatients and refers patient to the appropriate doctor for
evaluation
 Reports suspected cases of abuse or neglect to county or state authorities
 Provides education to patients regarding health risks, preventive care, diet, exercise, and overall health
maintenance
 Collaborates with other health care providers in coordination of care and case management

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
 Graduation from an accredited school of nursing
 Graduation from an accredited nurse practitioner training program

 Current California Nurse Practitioner license and possession of a current Nurse Practitioner Certification
 Current California Nurse Practitioner furnishing number (DEA)
 Valid National Provider Identifier (NPI) and an approved Medi-Cal/Care provider
 BLS certification
