Job Description

ARES is seeking a Multimedia Producer Editor Writer to support the creation and production of Spanish multimedia content for NASA missions at Goddard Space Flight Center. The work will be in support of the NASA Enterprise Multimedia and Integrated Technical Services (eMITS) contract. eMITS is the Agency’s enterprise-level contract creating and delivering multimedia and technical communications through the use of the internet, digital platforms, and IT management for NASA’s Office of the Chief Information Officer (OCIO) and Office of Communications (OCOMM). From photographing rocket launches and recoveries, to producing NASA TV segments, to information technology management, to using social media to share NASA’s message, eMITS integrates services for NASA IT and provides NASA’s communication to the outside world.   • Develop engaging original video content on NASA’s missions tailored for Hispanic audiences. Products include, but are not limited to, video formatted for social media channels, video news releases, and live video programming for social media.
  • Work with other NASA teams to translate and adapt existing video content.
  • Participate in strategy, creative planning, concepting, and visual direction for communications projects.
  • Write succinct, accurate and effective headlines and summaries for video assets, as well as engaging social media copy.
  • Use data analytics to help understand performance and trends in audience consumption.
  • Support the development of yearly new seasons of NASA’s only podcast in Spanish, Universo curioso de la NASA, from audio editing to creating promotional video content.
  • Keep abreast of new skills and developments in video storytelling.
  • Assist with news media events.
  • Assist in mentoring interns.

Remote, hybrid, and onsite positions the employee bears travel costs to nearest NASA Center for badging and issue of NASA IT equipment.

  • Native-level written and spoken Spanish.
  • Strong interest in science and expertise in transforming complex subject matter into public-friendly products.
  • Excellent editorial judgement and a track record of spotting opportunities to tell stories in an engaging way for Hispanic audiences.
  • Experience operating video cameras such as Canon DSLR and Blackmagic Ursa Mini.
  • Experience with tools such as: Premiere Pro, After Effects, Photoshop, Audition.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with creative and technical teams to develop engaging visual content.
  • Strong communication and organization skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
  • Knowledge and understanding of social media platforms (X, Facebook, YouTube and Instagram) and how to optimize content for each platform.
  • Willingness to learn new skills and support projects beyond multimedia production.
  • Ability to adapt and adjust in a fast-paced working environment.
  • Ability to work with other producers at the agency to collaborate on missions and projects.

Proficient in Microsoft Office 365 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Lync, Teams, OneNote, One Drive), SharePoint, and Box.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working with scientists and engineers to present their stories.
  • Experience editing podcasts.
  • Experience working with animators, data visualizers, and graphics professionals.
  • Experience working with news media.
  • Experience in web design and web editing.
  • Experience working with social media influencers.

Education and Relevant Work Experience:

  • Degree in video/film production, journalism, communications, science communication, broadcast journalism or marketing, or equivalent work experience.
  • At least 3 years of experience in video editing, writing for video and overall video production (i.e., pitching, writing scripts, operating cameras, creating motion graphics, editing and narrating)
