The Big Picture

Columbus Baptist Church (CBCNJ.com)(175) is a dynamic, multi-generational church seeking a Senior Pastor.

The Church

CBC has been established for over 175 years, with the current Pastor overseeing the congregation for the last 40 years. In 2009, CBC opened a new building on the same property to accommodate our steady growth. Mansfield Township is located in Southern New Jersey, 20 minutes south of Trenton. Because New Jersey is the most densely populated state in the US, there are over 5 million people within a 25-mile radius of the church. We believe we have a great opportunity to share the Gospel with those right around us. We believe that the Bible is the inerrant Word of God and are looking for a Senior Pastor to continue to oversee and guide the church into its next chapter through intentional discipleship development and sharing the Gospel Message unceasingly.

Requirements

The Candidate

Characteristics of the Ideal Candidate:

Possess a God-given passion for the Great Commission.
Has prior ministry experience of at least 5 years.
Has a bachelor’s degree from a Bible College or has Seminary Training.

Personal:

Has received and accepted a calling from God for this unique ministry.
Is committed to Jesus Christ and to the authority of the Scripture (sola scripture).
Believes in the power of prayer and demonstrates this through a strong personal prayer life.
Displays the fruit of the Spirit and relies upon the Holy Spirit for every aspect of his life and ministry.

Mission:

Has a deep understanding of sound doctrine and its use in life and ministry.
Has the skills and discernment to counsel and guide church members through life’s challenges using a Biblical model.
Is committed to Christ-centered preaching and teaching, using God’s Word to inspire the local church for mission.
Active in the community.

Leadership:

Has the ability to identify, motivate and train individuals and teams.
Has the ability to develop a discipleship culture.
Has excellent communication skills and is social media fluent.
Is adaptable and resilient when confronted with challenges and setbacks.
Has good time management skills and the ability to accomplish tasks in a timely manner.
Is able to impart vision.
Is a problem solver.
Has the ability to work well with all types of personalities.

Salary range: $60K-$70K
