Full-time Major Gift Officer with Philanthropy Oversight


JOB SUMMARY: Reporting to the Executive Director, Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Central Blue Ridge (BBBSCBR) is seeking a driven and mission-oriented Full-time Major Gift Officer with Philanthropy Oversight.


The Major Gift Officer will spend at least 50% of their time meeting with prospective donors. There will be a minimum of 20 grants submitted annually (most of these are renewals and more relationship-based; grant frameworks are provided from historical files).  The Major Gift Officer will oversee team member responsible for event logistics, sponsorships, and donor database management. The Major Gift Officer will implement a Fund Development Plan that is philanthropy-driven while building strong and enduring relationships that result in increased revenue for Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Central Blue Ridge. An ideal candidate will have experience cultivating relationships, making major gift requests, and stewarding donors. They will be able to create proposals and to write concisely and compellingly about the mission and programs of the agency.

  • Knowledge of solicitation, cultivation and stewardship strategies and techniques
  • Experience overseeing a small team of 1-2 people
  • The ability to collaborate and lead teams cross-functionally
  • Strong writing skills and excellent presentation and public speaking skills
  • Solid decision-making ability

  • A desire to achieve and develop professionally
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to resolve conflict



ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBLITIES



Fundraising

  • Lead the Fund Development Plan implementation and collaborate annually for revisions to the plan
  • Update all donor information and track donor meetings and donor moves management in CRM
  • Responsible for conducting an average of 3 major gift donor meetings per week to meet and exceed revenue budget goals
  • Maintain an active portfolio of donors ($1,500+) by analyzing and qualifying which donors are ready to be invited to give, while also maintaining activity to cultivate new donors
  • Research, network, and expand current agency relationships
  • Oversee the management of NAP donations. Update and maintain NAP donations, communicate with NAP donors and Virginia Department of Social Services. Stay up-to-date on latest NAP information
  • Oversee Corporate Sponsorships


Management

  • Support philanthropy team and events teams with accountability meetings and resource direction
  • Monitor fundraising and event logistic KPIs on a bi-weekly basis


Administration

  • Assist with revenue budget planning
  • Assist in planning staff meetings as needed
  • All other duties as assigned
