Building Services 32BJ Benefit Funds (“the Funds”) is the umbrella organization responsible for administering Health, Pension, Retirement Savings, Training, and Legal Services benefits to over 100,000 SEIU 32BJ members. Position Summary:

The Learning & Development Specialist assesses needs, develops, delivers, evaluates, and maintains training for employees of Building Service 32BJ Benefit Funds. This role is focused on training related to the applications (software and systems) used by staff, processes and procedures, compliance, and business skill development.

This role reports to the Training & Development Senior Manager and Director.


Responsibilities:
  • Conducts needs assessment and develops program objectives based on information gathered.
  • Prepares, conducts, and evaluates both on-site, virtual and or online training in the Funds applications: Microsoft Dynamics 365, V3locity, Dynamics F&O, ADP, and other supported application systems for users.
  • Prepares and conducts individualized training, as necessary, on-site, and virtually.
  • Determines needs, develops, and conducts internal training sessions in Microsoft 365 applications (both Office Suite as well as standalone applications such as Teams, SharePoint, Planner, etc.).
  • Develops, deploys, updates, and maintains Funds supported applications/programs with eLearning (Computer/Web-Based Training) files using appropriate eLearning software (i.e., Articulate Rise, Storyline, Adobe Captivate).
  • Maintains the most up-to-date files in an appropriate location once eLearning files have been updated.
  • Designs, develops, maintains, and/or revises systems, procedures manual, and training materials, and other appropriate educational curriculum for supported applications/programs, as requested.
  • Assists other trainers to learn training programs s/he will conduct/develop.
  • Works with contracted vendors to ensure quality of product, and deliverables are in accordance with schedule and contract.
  • Notifies and confirms with appropriate coordinators the employees who are scheduled to attend training prior to classes.
  • Assists with verifying system availability of training environments and servers.
  • Designs, develops, and maintains training related materials such as job aids, procedures, policy documents, user guides and project plans.
  • Maintains and supports internal training registration and administration processes.
  • Create, update, manage and assign training in the Learning Management System (LMS)
  • Interacts with all levels of staff including subject matter experts, internal and external contacts.
  • Completes special assignments and assists in routine administrative tasks, as needed.
  • Assists users and Help Desk with analyzing issues and providing solutions, and Training Director on miscellaneous administrative reports and or projects, as requested.
  • Assists Senior Management in the planning, coordination, and implementation of all phases of training registration and administrative activities for the user community.
  • Special projects and duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Core Competencies
  • Technical skills including familiarity with e-learning software, LMS and customer service applications.
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft 365 (SharePoint, OneDrive, Planner, Teams, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Word), eLearning and multimedia development software (e.g., Articulate Rise, Adobe Captivate, Camtasia Studio), and virtual presentation tools (e.g., Teams).
  • Develops and designs courses incorporating Adult Learning theory and Instructional Design methodology.
  • Expertise in selecting and using training/instructional methods and procedures appropriate for the situation when learning or teaching new things.
  • Exceptional oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Detail oriented, with excellent organizational and presentation/facilitation skills.
  • Experience delivering instruction in both classroom and online learning environments.
  • Creative, independent thinker who works well in a collaborative environment.
  • Extensive experience with creating and editing procedural documents and training materials.
  • Experience supporting and training Help Desk/Customer Service Centers by diagnosing system/user issues and providing solutions.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects in a timely manner.


Other Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field (such as Adult Education, Instructional Design, Computer Science, Human Resources, or relevant field).
  • 3+ years of experience in corporate training or staff development required.
  • Adaptable, fast learner, and analytical.
  • Employee Benefits Administration experience a plus.
