The Baltimore City State’s Attorney’s Office (SAO) is looking to fill a paralegal position in the Evidence Review Unit (ERU). The ERU paralegal will be responsible for identifying and obtaining case-specific evidence from various law enforcement agencies as needed for investigations and trials. The paralegal’s primary responsibilities are a) identifying required evidence through the review of charging documents; b) uploading digital evidence from law enforcement applications; c) requesting evidence from law enforcement agencies; d) reviewing received evidence; e) uploading evidence to the SAO’s case management systems; f) maintaining spreadsheets to track deadlines; and g) performing statistical analysis on evidence trends when requested. This position requires solid hardware and software skills.
Personal and professional skills required of all candidates: 1) strong computer skills, including proficiency working with Microsoft Word and Excel, PDF editing software, video viewing and editing software, and the Microsoft Windows operating system; 2) the ability to work accurately, paying attention to all details, no matter how small; 3) the ability to work quickly - this is a high-volume, fast-paced work environment; 4) the ability to meet deadlines; 5) the ability to write without requiring the need for second-party editing; 6) the ability to work in a paperless environment; 7) the ability to work in a multiple windows environment using several software applications simultaneously; 8) the ability to work independently; 9) the ability to juggle multiple job responsibilities; 10) the ability to identify issues and develop solutions; 11) the ability to communicate with internal (SAO) and external (law enforcement and forensic labs) contacts; and 12) the ability to maintain the confidentiality of SAO work. Candidates will be tested on their software and analytical skills.

A bachelor’s degree or associate’s degree, preferably in computer science, criminal justice, forensic science, accounting, information science, business administration, or journalism is strongly preferred.
Salary: $53,065-$64,494 commensurate with experience, plus a comprehensive benefits package.
Additional Information
· This position has a ninety-day probationary period.
· This position does allow for telework after six months in the position.
