Safety Specialist

We are looking to immediately hire a qualified Safety Specialist.

Drexel Chemical Company is a leading manufacturer of quality agricultural products.

PRINCIPLE RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Ensure compliance with applicable laws regulating plant operation including OSHA compliance.
• Work with Plant Management to help resolve identifiable issues.
• Actively develop and implement company safety procedures, including Process Safety Management Plans, Lock Out/Tag Out, Hot Work Permits, and PPE.
• Promote a safety culture that will minimize the number, and reduce the severity of accidents and injuries.
• Plan and conduct safety training for all employees in compliance with safety regulations.
• Coordinate with the corporate staff to manage all aspects of the company safety program including training implementation and recordkeeping, process development, and the resolution of safety issues.
• Perform routine safety inspections of all locations to ensure conformity with company protocols and procedures.
• Respond to safety incidents and other violations of the company safety policy, perform root causes analyses, and recommend corrective/preventive action plans.

QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:

• 4 year college degree in Safety, Engineering, or a related field is preferred.
• Minimum of 3-5 years of verifiable safety experience in a manufacturing environment.
• 1-2 years of Supervisory/Management experience is preferred.
• High level of communication skills, as the position entails a lot of training and interaction with plant management and personnel.
• Strong attention to detail and high degree of accuracy.
• Knowledge of OSHA regulations, accident rate reduction strategies, and safety training.
• Basic working knowledge of chemical unit operations, including manufacturing and packaging.
