Summary
Under the direct supervision of the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), the Communications Manager will develop and implement a comprehensive communications and public relations program that will enhance the image of the Durham Housing Authority (DHA) and its position with the public. This position will also provide a broad range of marketing support to the organization.
Essential Functions

- Works with the President & CEO to identify, cultivate and articulate DHA’s desired message, image, and position... the DHA brand.
- Develops and implements a comprehensive communications and public relations program that will enhance the DHA brand and its position within the meetings and the general public.
- Analyzes, evaluates, and reports on performance and effectiveness of the communications and public relations programs and recommends corrections as necessary.
- Effectively establishes and maintains positive relationships with media, industry influencers and key community and strategic partners for the betterment of the DHA.
- Writes and distributes press releases / news stories to various and appropriate outlets and publications. Maintains current media database.
- Coordinates administration and content of the DHA website and social media including reports on traffic and analytics of those platforms,
- Plans, implements, and monitors the DHA’s social media strategy and platforms.
- Coordinate the appearance of the DHA’s print and electronic materials such as letterhead, use of logo, brochures, website, etc.
- Communicates with partners across departments to ensure consistent messaging and branding.
- Reviewing and editing communications documents drafted by subject matter experts to ensure they are written effectively for the target audience and are consistent with branding.
Education and Experience
Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university in Marketing, Public Relations,
Journalism, Communications, or related field. Minimum of five (5) years of progressively increasing responsibility in the development and execution of communications and public relations programs. Experience with presentation and graphic design software (PPT, Adobe, etc.) A combination of education and experience may be considered.
Special Requirements
Valid driver's license in the State of North Carolina.
