Requirement Summary
In this role you will be responsible for guiding the development of innovative solutions for our customers through the entire design process, from concept to commercialization. You will offer vision and guidance to the multidisciplinary team as they perform research, build prototypes, and deploy mature products.
Responsibilities
- Identify meaningful user requirements through interactions with the customer
- Conceptualize and investigate user-focused solutions to meet customer requirements
- Design, develop, procure, and fabricate functional models or prototypes to obtain user feedback and iterate designs
- Drive the design process throughout the development cycle from prototyping to pre-production and into mass production.
- Presentation of results to customers (written and oral)
- Support business development through proposal writing and the pursuit of strategic partnerships
- Identification, coordination and management of vendors and suppliers as we transition products from prototype stage to manufacture
You will be expected to work with colleagues on small teams on a diverse array of projects. You will communicate clearly and effectively with customers, partners, and vendors.
Qualifications
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Ability to maintain multiple concurrent projects, provide deliverables on schedule, and document the effort
- Proficiency in solid modeling/design, SolidWorks preferred.
- Experience with product design and development processes is important.
- Practical experience working through DFM and CM challenges with external vendors.
- Knowledge of basic engineering materials and manufacturing and fabrication methods and processes.is very important
- Solid understanding of engineering fundamentals.
- Adaptability and desire to learn new technologies
Education/Experience
- BS in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Design, Biomedical Engineering, or related engineering field; Advanced degree is desired.
- 5+ years of hands-on, detailed product design and development experience
