Serializing Lead Editor

Compensation: Initially equity-based, transitioning to an hourly wage post-profitability. The Serializing Editor-in-Chief will also earn 50% of the company's earnings on the first 10 books they agree to contract, continuing to receive these earnings until they leave the company.

Role Overview: We are looking for a visionary Serializing Lead Editor / Serializing Editor-in-Chief to spearhead our editorial team. This role is crucial for managing the editorial process of novels released in a serialized format, ensuring high-quality content delivery. The successful candidate will possess excellent editing skills, a strategic mindset, and the ability to work closely with authors to refine their work for our unique distribution model.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead the editorial process for serialized novels, guaranteeing each chapter adheres to our high-quality standards.
• Collaborate with authors to develop their manuscripts for serialization, offering constructive feedback and editorial advice.
• Implement editorial strategies aimed at increasing reader engagement and retention.
• Oversee a team of editors and freelancers, coordinating their tasks and ensuring deadlines are met.
• Work with the marketing team to boost the visibility and promotion of serialized novels.
• Conduct contract negotiations with authors, fostering strong, beneficial partnerships.
• Remain informed about serialized fiction trends and incorporate innovative practices into our operations.

Qualifications:

• Demonstrated editorial experience within the publishing industry, preferably with serialized content.
• Outstanding command of the English language, including grammar, punctuation, and style.
• Excellent leadership and team management skills.
• Strong communication and negotiation skills.
• Ability to manage tight deadlines and shift priorities as needed.
• A deep passion for storytelling, particularly serialized fiction.
• Bachelor’s degree in English, Journalism, Communications, or related fields is preferred.
