Description/Job Summary

The Social Media Specialist works as part of the Communications and broader Business Development team to help raise the profile of the Firm, its practices and lawyers through digital content and other media channels. This includes supporting and assisting in development of profile and brand-raising initiatives, including high-impact content creation, to support the business development of individual partners, practice areas, offices and the Firm on LinkedIn and other digital media channels. This role also provides research, analysis and execution of strategies concerning social media and other communications-related channels, including thought leadership campaigns, media outreach, awards series and related work product, ensuring the Firm's high standard of excellence is met. In addition, this role provides monitoring, research and analysis of the Firm's social media engagement.

Responsibilities/Duties

  • Collaborate with the Director of Communications and broader BD Department to maintain and monitor the Firm's primary social media platform, LinkedIn, and monitor other social media channels for content and new developments/ trends
  • Working with the Firm's Communications team and others to manage and develop the Firm's social media calendar
  • Proactively seek ideas and craft Firm social media content, including writing copy, developing graphics and other media content, liaising with the Firm's Graphics team as needed
  • Design social media campaigns around high-priority Firm content
  • Attend Firm events as needed to facilitate the development of social media content.
  • Prepare internal newsletters featuring social media content highlights to facilitate employee content sharing and engagement.
  • Perform research and analysis on the social media profiles and content of prospective and scheduled speakers at Firm events
  • Assist in developing and sharing digital educational content to empower and encourage lawyers across the Firm to leverage social media
  • Track, measure and analyze metrics on the Firm's social media engagement against industry benchmarks, including developing reports and summaries, and will proactively develop recommendations for continued enhancement
  • Keep abreast of Firm, business and industry developments, as well as social media industry trends, tools and regulations (e.g., attorney marketing rules, ABA ethical behavior guidelines and Firm policies) and proactively identify potential areas for new engagement and/or issues of non-compliance
  • Create website content, including partner biographies and various Business Development communications materials across multiple channels to reflect new awards and other Firm developments
  • Support the creation of advertising, posters, flyers and other promotional materials, working with Graphic Design team and outside vendors where appropriate
  • Contribute to the preparation and maintenance of Business Development and Communications materials, including brochures, practice area descriptions and other content
  • Support Business Development projects and other Firm initiatives as needed
  • Perform various business and operational support functions related to Communications and Business Development strategies, policies, procedures and initiatives
  • Partner and collaborate with the broader Business Development team as needed
  • Perform other duties as needed

Required Skills

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, as well as attention to detail
  • Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively in a demanding environment
  • Proven ability to exercise initiative and sound independent judgment
  • Ability to develop compelling social media content on highly-technical subjects
  • Proficiency using design software and other creative applications (Quark, Photoshop)
  • Strong project management and organizational skills, demonstrated ability to prioritize and balance competing demands and manage multiple projects concurrently, meeting deadlines in a fast-paced professional environment
  • Ability to develop buy-in, interact well and build professional relationships with key stakeholders while maintaining a high level of customer service, diplomacy and discretion
  • Excellent research and analytical abilities
  • Ability to assess needs, assign priorities, develop strategies and make recommendations when presented with ambiguous or incomplete information
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills to make sound decisions, escalating as appropriate
  • Ability to effectively share knowledge and resources with appropriate parties, both internally and externally
  • Ability to anticipate business challenges of partners and senior team members and proactively address needs with self-assuredness and business acumen
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite and web-based research
  • Must be flexible and willing to work additional hours as needed

Required Experience

  • Minimum 5 years of experience, including 3+ years of relevant social media experience

Preferred Experience

  • Prior experience developing social media content at a law firm or other professional services industry preferred
  • Basic photography and video filming and editing experience
  • Experience using social media advocacy programs (Clearview Social, etc.)

Required Education

  • Bachelor's degree required

Preferred Education

  • Major in Communications, English, Marketing, Advertising or related field preferred

Details

Salary Information

NY only: The estimated base salary range for this position is $100k to $120k at the time of posting.

The actual salary offered will depend on a variety of factors, including without limitation, the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and if applicable, the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job. This role is exempt meaning it is not overtime pay eligible.
