The Social Media Manager contributes to Areya Media’s mission by engaging audiences across Okayplayer digital and social platforms.
Duties / Responsibilities
The Social Media Manager is responsible for managing content, scheduling posts, and monitoring social media metrics. The Social Media Manager will develop and champion the Okayplayer brand across Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, Threads TikTok, and YouTube platform.
This position will have the following responsibilities and duties;
- Develop and manage a social content calendar to hit key dates, tentpole events, original content, products along with key social first franchises in mind.
- Conceptualize, define and execute social media strategies for the Okayplayer and Okayshop brands in collaboration with the both Newsletter and Editorial content.
- Curate content using social media brand strategy, with a focus to deliver creative social-first content to: increase followers while driving reach, engagement and views across our core channels.
- Assigning tasks, overseeing content creation, and ensuring that the social media coordinators, social media specialists and interns efforts align with the marketing and business goals.
- Staying up-to-date on social media trends, monitoring all social platforms (IG/FB/TW/Threads/TikTok/YT Shorts/Snap) to determine engagement and developing social media campaign ideas for new product launches and events.
- Drive budget and execution of marketing initiatives through content storytelling, ensuring a consistent brand message that is relative to the brands.
- Develop qualitative and quantitative content performance goals.
- Work with the audience development team to produce weekly. analytical reporting that supports goals.
- Identify new partnership prospects and develop key relationships that will help grow audience and engagement through the distribution of content and video.
- Collaborate with the Sales and Design team for Branded Content ideas, opportunities and social rollouts.
- Compose and manage content plans for festivals and award show content coverage, both IRL if we attend and remotely.
- Oversee quality control and processes, with Design and Video teams in mind,, to ensure efficient & effective level of engaging content.
Qualifications
The Social Media Manager should be an in depth expert in brand culture, social trends, and Black culture overall. They should have the following skills, education and experience.
- A critical thinker, who can interpret trends and who has copywriting skills with a “can do” results-oriented mentality.
- 5+ years of leadership experience in a social media marketing role. Brand side experience preferred.
- Must have a deep level and be fluent in the nuances present across all key social platforms, including paid media, best practices, promotional campaigns, and ad opportunities.
- Experience in running paid social campaigns on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Reddit, TikTok etc.
- Deep knowledge of the Okayplayer voice and brand, as well as a passion for music, social justice, art, film, news, comedy and tech (particularly online communities and the web).

Compensation
OkayMedia, Inc. offers the following total compensation package upon full-time hire.
- Salary - $5,400/month
