Resident Advisor

Resident Advisor- Part-time, Hourly (Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Weekend, Friday 5p-Monday 7am)

Reports to: Program Developer, Founder/CEO

Objective of Position:

The Resident Assistant stays overnight in the Flourish Home to help maintain a household that is consistent with the Flourish Home Code of Conduct, Program Handbook, and the organization’s Mission, Vision, and Values. This person should engender a sense of optimism, compassion, and Godly confidence—and be committed to helping foster the culture of sisterhood outlined in our Mission, Vision, and Values. General oversight of home while on duty seeing that it is clean and neat, meals are planned, food is purchased and prepared on time. This individual should be able to encourage and minister to woman in a biblical way without threats or intimidation but able to be firm, fair and without partiality in enforcing the rules. The Resident Advisor must maintain processes and ensure a secure environment in the home. She must provide for the health and safety needs if an illness or emergency occurs by appropriately responding to their needs.

Required education and training:

Passion for the mission of Flourish Homes is foremost. Must have a high school diploma and college hours are preferred. Able to attest to and uphold Flourish’s Statement of Faith. Must pass a background check. No drug use or history in the last three years. Must have a current driver’s license and have a good driving record. Must be an active member of a Christian church and have a committed relationship with Jesus Christ. Must be passionate about discipling young women and have a teachable spirit and positive attitude.

Required experience:

Working with women in some type of authority position. Exhibit Biblical integrity and servant leadership. Individual should have great communication skills, use of proper grammar and punctuation, legible handwriting, and proficient in email and Microsoft Office.

Required knowledge and abilities:

It is important that they are loyal to the ministry and to the vision. The Resident Advisor is to be a Godly example to the home.

A great fit for the Resident Advisor will meet many of the following qualifications:

1. Has integrity and proven track record of leading with integrity.

2. Able to lead by example.

3. Willingness to attest to Flourish’s Statement of Faith.

4. Passion to help young women in crisis and empower into adulthood.

5. Ministerial certification, schooling or degree preferred but not required.

6. Ability to handle multiple tasks.

7. Good at running a home

8. Great interpersonal communication skills

9. Able to coordinate with staff and volunteers.

10. Has a good healthy support system outside of the home.

11. Able to maintain good healthy boundaries between work and home.

Duties:

1. Assigning and overseeing chores and meal prep

2. Able to lovingly correct when work details are not done satisfactorily.

3. Include women in menu planning, meal preparation and cleanup and supervise meal times.

4. Assist residents in buying groceries and household supplies.

5. Keep track of petty cash and submit receipts for all purchases.

6. Orient new residents to Flourish Homes

7. Checkout all women leaving Flourish Homes by completing our discharge form.

8. Supervises special events such as Birthdays, graduations, parties (Day)

9. Attends staff meetings and fills out reports on women.

10. Helps to develop and empower life skills in women.

11. Gives tours of home as needed.

12. Participates in fundraising and home tours.

13. Makes sure women are at meals, worship, life skills and activities and reports if they are not participating.

14. The RA will confront violations of FH rules and policies and take appropriate action if needed.

15. Report discipline matters that need to be handled to the Program Developer or CEO.

16. Resident Advisor will also help transport women to appointments and outings as directed by Program Developer or CEO.

17. The RA must complete written requirements of the position, including incident reports, room checks, shift report, etc. in a neat and timely manner.

18. Runs devotionals/approved Bible studies (Day)

19. Pray with residents as needed.

20. Assists volunteers and makes them feel welcome and comfortable.

21. Always keep the house “tour ready.”

22. Take young women to church weekly (Sunday am).

23. Orient fill in Resident Advisors to duties/routine/protocols

24. Report house maintenance needs to Program Developer or CEO.

25. Act as a liaison between residents and administration as needed.

26. Participate in staff development to help us better serve our residents.

27. Other duties as deemed necessary.

Flourish Homes will provide the following for the Resident Advisor:

1. Twin bed and linens at the Transitional House.

2. Transportation vehicle provided by Flourish Homes.

3. Maintenance of all appliances, septic system, etc.

4. Lawn care and mowing service.

5. Consultation with Flourish Homes administrators when there are questions or concerns regarding residents at the house.

6. Gas for all Flourish Homes vehicles for Flourish Homes outings.

7. Allowances to do activities and meals out with residents (as available and approved).

8. Educational opportunities to help you grow in your effectiveness of ministry to those we serve.

9. Christ-centered, positive working environment.
