We are seeking an inventive, curious and motivated intern/co-op to join the Silfex Communications team for the Summer 2024 semester. In this role, you will work with partners across the organization to develop and execute business critical messages and compelling stories that demonstrate the culture and Core Values of Silfex to internal and external audiences.

Responsibilities:

  • Developing and executing communication plans based on business needs and with direction from the Communications Manager.
  • Developing the messaging for internal news stories, emails, digital signage, and newsletter features.
  • Writing and sharing community relations stories internally and externally via social channels.
  • Support the development and execution of internal communications and employee engagement programs to build company-wide understanding and support of business strategy, culture, and values.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Writes and executes critical internal and external communications, ensuring dissemination occurs via appropriate platforms.
  • Develops content for employee e-mails, newsletters and other internal communications.
  • Fosters relationships and collaborates within the HR Department and across the organization to better understand and meet employee engagement and communication requirements, while providing a high level of internal customer service.
  • Helps document new and existing Communications processes and procedures.

Essential Requirements:

  • Undergraduate student pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Journalism, or similar area of study.
  • Strongly prefer a 3.0 GPA or higher
  • Sophomore or higher-class status
  • Preferred: Previous related co-op/intern experience in Communications, Marketing or Journalism.
  • Ability to handle customer and internal situations, which are sometimes stressful or time critical in a logical manner and resolve issues tactfully.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively to groups of customers or employees of organization.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Experience with using the Microsoft suite to include Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

The employee regularly is required to lift up to 10 pounds. The vision requirements include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. While performing the duties of this job the employee is frequently exposed to work near moving mechanical parts and fumes or airborne particles. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions. The noise level in the environment is moderate.
