Job Description

The Social Engagement Specialist is a key role in the Creative team, home to our Design, Fragrance, and Marketing teams at ILLUME® and Good Chemistry®. As the Social Engagement Specialist, you will be responsible for attracting and engaging customers and building a social community for our brands with your social media expertise, public-relations insights and results-driven strategies.

The goal for these efforts is to build brand awareness and increase customer engagement, ultimately driving website traffic and brand advocacy. You will work with the Marketing Director, the Marketing Team, internal and external talent to help craft and share our brand story across social media channels to create deep and meaningful consumer connections in the space. You must have an obsession for sharing our brands' stories, developing great content, and finding "heartspace" with our customers.

The Social Engagement Specialist is a creative thought leader responsible for developing and implementing the Companies Brands social and influencer strategies. You will be responsible for growing brand awareness, fostering community growth, and ultimately driving positive consumer perception. You are obsessed with building great campaigns, connecting through storytelling, and enlisting the right community and media relationships to drive the cycle of attraction and engagement.

Your work will be measured on the continual improvement of customer attraction, connection and retention through the ongoing development and deployment of social content, partnerships and media outreach. Your mission is to create value for the lifestyle consumer, leading to customer satisfaction and an engaged community.

Key Accountabilities

Social Media Management

  1. Refine brand specific social community management guidelines.
  2. Collaborate with Marketing & Design team to define content development needs and develop content calendars for social media to ensure consistency in messaging and branding across all social media channels.
  3. Curate and create engaging content for all social media channels, including but not limited to Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, TikTok, Pinterest and emerging platforms.
  4. Create new, high-quality content that aligns with brand image and achieves marketing strategies, including photography, edited videos, graphics, and more.
  5. Write compelling caption copy, headlines, and scripts to capture the consumer's attention and compel them to take action.
  6. Schedule and publish content according to a content calendar, ensuring consistency and alignment with brand voice and messaging.
  7. Monitor social media channels for brand mentions, comments, and messages, and respond promptly with relevant and personalized interactions.
  8. Proactively engage followers, fans and customers to cultivate a sense of community around our brands.
  9. Coordinate with external public relations agency and potential partners to strengthen the brands' communities through co-branded collaborations and influencer seeding & partnerships.
  10. Highlight earned media and organic influencer content across social platforms to strengthen brand positioning and credibility.
  11. Track and analyze engagement metrics against content strategies and tactics to evaluate the effectiveness of campaigns and initiatives and make data-driven recommendations for optimization.

Influencer Relationships & Activations

  1. Manage all paid, earned, ambassador and affiliate influencer relationships and outreach - either directly or through external partners.
  2. Create and distribute influencer content briefs and sample mailings for influencer focused campaigns.
  3. Work through external partners to contract influencers to develop user generated content (UGC) for social and digital marketing applications.
  4. Manage contracts and terms for formalized influencer/brand partnerships.
  5. Maintain reporting on social metrics and ROI for influencer campaigns, projects and initiatives.
  6. Manage user generated content (UGC) library.

Competitive Analysis

  1. Research and report on social media and public relations activations amongst competitors.
  2. Research and report social media, influencer outreach and public relations trends in the following areas: beauty, personal fragrance, home fragrance, wellness, STEAM, sustainability, and business.
  3. Advise on best practices within digital marketing, social media, influencer marketing, community management, public relations and content creation including emerging talent and platforms to keep the brands relevant, relatable, and approachable.
  4. Provide ongoing recommendations for brand evolution into future platforms, content types, and tactics.

Other essential functions

  1. Continually look for ways to improve processes and systems to make them more efficient and effective.
  2. Comply with all company policies and procedures.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, advertising, public relations or like field or a combination of education, experience, and training which provides the background necessary for performing the work.
  • 1+ years of experience in a social media role inclusive of execution across social media platforms, preferably for a retailer in beauty, fragrance, décor, fashion, or wellness industries.
  • Strong interest and understanding of the digital space with specific expertise on social media platforms and influencer marketing.
  • Proficiency in utilizing social management systems, social listening/analytics tools, and content creation platforms such as: Sprout Social, Hootsuite, Google Analytics, platform specific analytics toolkits, Adobe Suite and Canva.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to craft engaging and authentic content that drives consumer engagement.
  • Demonstrated experience in understanding and interpreting what shapes consumer behavior.
  • Creative, innovative thinker with a passion for storytelling and building relationships.
  • Experience crafting a strategy across digital media and creative: drawing connections between the brand identity and marketing objectives to inform differentiated and effective new media programs that engage customers, increase awareness and spark advocacy.
  • Ability to make informed decisions related to social media and influencer strategy, acting to better the business, and advocating for future needs/opportunities.
  • Exceptional project management and proactive communication skills with confidence speaking to cross functional internal and external stakeholders.
  • Team player with an entrepreneurial spirit.
  • Ability to be flexible and agile with constant changes and time restraints.
