POSITION SUMMARY
The Part-Time Instrumental Music teacher is responsible for building music and implementing education curriculum for elementary school students. They will motivate students and guide students through practices and performances, while emphasizing the importance of music as part of a well-rounded education.

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Pay Range: $35.00 - $50.00 per hour
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develops students' musical strengths and capabilities on an individuals and group basis;
- Maintains an effective learning environment for students with available school resources;
- Models high standards of classroom behavior for students;
- Manages instrumental music programs including Recorders and Elementary Band;
- Provides opportunities for music ensembles;
- Maintains a flexible schedule to assist students and parents outside regular school hours as needed;
- Regularly communicates with parents regarding individual students' progress;
- Develops and implements music curriculum to cover music theory, and history;
- Submits lessons plans for review on a weekly basis;
- Collaborates with the Choral Teacher in teaching recorder program to the third grade students;
- Tracks classroom records as required by law, school policy and regulation;
- Procures instructional materials and equipment as needed;
- Manages the Music Education program budget with assistance from the Head of School;
- Organizes and conducts the Winter Concert, Recorder Concert and Spring Concert;
- Participates in faculty and department meetings as scheduled;
- Attends educational workshops and stays up to date with professional journals;
- Collaborates with school staff to plan instructional goals, objectives, and methods;
- Participates in school development programs including constituency relations, fundraising, and student recruitment and retention;
- Participates in end-of-year procedures including textbook inventory, ordering materials; and
- Supervises recess, arrival and dismissal, and extracurricular activities;

QUALIFICATIONS
- Be a professing believer of Jesus Christ;
- Sign and follow MCS Statement of Faith & Morality & Ethical Integrity Policy;
- Excellent oral and written skills, organizational skills, and the ability to interact effectively with coworkers, students, families, and outside contacts are essential;
- Possess an authentic fulfillment in working with children while loving them and serving in the calling of Christian Education.
EDUCATION
Bachelor's degree in music education or a related field required.
CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, AND REGISTRATIONS
- Current valid CA or other state teaching credential preferred;
- Obtain ACSI Certification within 1 year;
- Prior music education experience preferred.
WORK EXPERIENCE
Preferred prior classroom teaching experience is preferred.

- Knowledge of age-appropriate teaching methods, state curriculum standards, education code, and appropriate instructional subjects;
- Must exhibit a high level of confidentiality;

- Strong organizational, time-management, and problem-solving skills; and
- Team player.
