Marketing Assistant

Position Summary

The Marketing Assistant position is full-time, 40 hours per week (non-exempt, benefits available) and will primarily take place at our Little Village, Midway, or Humboldt Park locations. The Marketing Assistant is responsible for providing support to the Marketing and Communication department. May require some local travel (reimbursable). Pay commensurate with experience. This position is in-person.

Job Responsibilities

• Assist Marketing Director in planning, organizing and directing communications strategies for fundraising and storytelling.
• Update and create new print marketing materials for programs, events and fundraising efforts.
• Create, collect and schedule content material for multiple social media accounts, including photography and videography.
• Edit and review content for grammar and punctuation and help translate material to Spanish.
• Write and send monthly update newsletters to partners.
• Book meetings with professionals and participate in conferences for professional development.
• Assist Marketing Director in managing media relations, help book interviews for news and write press releases.
• Assist Marketing Director in creating and implementing social media strategies.
• Collaborate with vendors to produce marketing print and digital materials, organization videos and event photography.
• Develop relationships with partners and colleagues to cultivate ongoing relationships, involvement, and support.
• Update and maintain New Life Centers website.
• Design flyers, signs and other branded materials for the organization.
• Support Department of Partner Engagement in fundraising and partner efforts.
• Communicates regularly with Marketing Director about administrative needs, challenges, etc.
• Approves credit card report and timecards.
• Maintains accuracy of budget if applicable.
• Demonstrates New Life Centers’ values.
• Attends required meetings and trainings.
• Other duties as assigned by the Supervisor.

Skills & Qualifications

• Must become a Certified Mandated Reporter. Training provided.
• Must pass a background check, must not have any pending cases.
• Must pass a Child Abuse and Neglect Tracking System background check.
• Must pass a National Sex Offender Registry background check.
• BA/BS degree in marketing, communications, journalism or related field.
• Minimum 2 years' experience in marketing, communications, journalism or related field.
• Must have a working phone and phone number.
• Cross-cultural competency.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to effectively work independently, problem-solve, multi-task and take initiative.
• Outstanding organization and time management skills.
• Highly detail oriented.
• Excellent MS Office knowledge.
• Familiarity with office machinery and applications (e.g., e-calendars and copy machines).
• Must be willing to be trained, and proficiently utilize database(s) and information tracking systems relevant to duties.
• Discretion and confidentiality.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
• Valid Illinois driver’s license, insurance, good driving record, access to a vehicle. Subject to driving background check.
• Bilingual English/Spanish preferred but not required.
