Summary Description

Responsible for all phases of the design and programming of security systems.  Provides support to security technicians.

Duties and Responsibilities

Essential Functions:

• Assists in creating/editing customer graphics, schedules, reports, and front end related programs for user GUI.
• Installs customer graphics at site as required.
• Assembles and tests front end for customer as required.
• Performs customer and employee training as required.
• Performs all engineering tasks on security projects, including, CAD design, sequence of operations, controller software, front-end hardware set up, all front-end software creation and set up, system functional testing, customer training and job commissioning.
• Assists in performing job reconciliation of security projects.
• Develops and maintains excellent working relationships with all customers.
• Completes all system software setup before the beginning of system checkout.
• Ensures that response times on projects meet established Tri-M turnaround times.
• Supports service department with warranty and post-warranty customer support, and in after-hours support.
• Performs or assists with job estimates/takeoffs as required.
• Assists in performing security sales demonstrations and in supporting sales professionals in the sales cycle.

Job Qualifications 

Skills/Education:

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or electrical engineering or equivalent technical training
• Minimum of 4 years’ experience as a technician and/or engineer in the security industry, including experience with access control systems, CCTV, burg systems, and other building security systems.
• Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Windows applications: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access.
• Excellent working knowledge of drafting software (AutoCAD)
• Good programming ability in common computer languages
• Ability to handle and independently prioritize multiple tasks while meeting project deadlines
• Ability to think independently and work under pressure
• Detail oriented
• Excellent human relations skills
• Excellent organizational and communication skills

Physical Requirements:

• Working a minimum of 40 hours/week
• Sitting 6 to 8 hours/day.
• Lifting weights of 0 to 30 lbs. from floor to above shoulders.
• Repetitive use of hands for writing, typing, data entry, and filing.
• Vision adequate for computer use and reading.
• Hearing adequate for phone use.
