Join the Stouffer Legal team as our Strategic Marketing Manager! You will play a pivotal role in developing and implementing strategic marketing initiatives to enhance the firm's visibility, attract new clients, and foster ongoing relationships with existing clients. Leveraging your expertise in both tactical and strategic marketing, with a strong emphasis on digital platforms and marketing analytics, you will drive the firm's marketing efforts to achieve its business objectives and maintain a competitive edge.

You will be our primary marketing professional and we plan to add two team members by the end of the year (an SEO analytics position and a digital content position), but you would be a department of one currently. Our company's marketing budget is over $2 million per year and includes a combination of traditional and digital marketing strategies. In this role you will be responsible for creating and curating our content and evaluating the effectiveness of our marketing. Previous management experience is required, and our ideal candidate has at least six years of relevant marketing experience.

Core functions and Responsibilities include:

  • Strategic Planning
    • Develop and execute comprehensive marketing strategies aligned with the firm's business objectives, targeting key audiences in the estate planning and administration sector
    • Conduct market research and analysis to identify emerging trends, competitive landscape, and buying behavior from Target Client Profile, informing strategic decision-making and resource allocation
  • Digital Marketing
    • Oversee the development and optimization of digital marketing campaigns across various channels, including website, social media, email marketing, and search engine marketing (SEM)
    • Utilize SEO strategies to enhance online visibility and drive organic traffic to the firm's digital assets
    • Manage the firm's online presence and reputation through proactive reputation management strategies
  • Content Development
    • Collaborate with legal experts to create compelling and informative content, including videos, articles, blog posts, whitepapers, and case studies, showcasing the firm's expertise and thought leadership in estate planning and administration
    • Ensure content is optimized for relevant keywords and resonates with target audiences across different stages of the client journey
  • Marketing Analytics
    • Utilize marketing analytics tools to track and analyze key performance metrics, such as website traffic, conversion rates, client acquisition costs, and ROI of marketing initiatives
    • Generate actionable insights from data analysis to optimize marketing strategies, enhance campaign effectiveness, and drive continuous improvement
  • Brand Management
    • Create brand standards for within and outside of the organization including presentation templates and workshop materials. Uphold and reinforce the firm's brand identity and messaging across all marketing collateral and communication channels, ensuring consistency and alignment with brand values
    • Develop branding initiatives to differentiate the firm and cultivate a strong brand presence within the estate planning and administration industry
  • Client Relationship Management
    • Collaborate with the business development and sales team to nurture client relationships and identify opportunities for cross-selling and upselling of legal services
    • Implement client feedback mechanisms to gather insights and enhance client satisfaction and referrals

Recurring Job Duties include:

  • 7+ hours a week creating and outsourcing content, including creating engaging social media posts (10 per week), outsourcing blog posts (2 per week), outsourcing articles (1 per week), creating informative email newsletters (1 per week), outsourcing landing pages as needed, and coordinating weekly podcast creation (including helping to conduct or schedule the podcast recording, outsourcing the editing and formatting, and making suggestions to increase listener engagement)
    • Oversee 1 podcast every other week - 4 hours including setting up interview, determine which clips to highlight, and overseeing the outsourced editing
    • Create 6 social media posts a week with engaging content - 2 hours
    • Create or outsource 2 blogs a week with engaging content - 1 hour
    • Create 1 email newsletter every week - 1 hour
    • Create or outsource light design work and work with outside vendors to create contract design work - 1 hour
  • 6 hours a week proposing, drafting, and implementing marketing campaigns (various content) to improve lead funnel (A/B testing on landing pages and on email and physical mailers)
  • 4 hours a week creating KPI (key performance indicators) reports of current marketing campaigns (20 total campaigns)
  • 4 hours a week tracking sales leads through a lead funnel and identify areas of improvement
  • 4 hours a week reviewing, organizing, and presenting data reports from outside marketing consultants
  • 3 hours a week reviewing all analytics related to all marketing efforts and using those insights to adjust ongoing marketing efforts
  • 2 hours a week attending senior leadership meetings with your peers
  • 1 hour a week improving backlinks by working with other outside website administrators
  • On a monthly basis:
    • Reach out to industry partners to pitch and coordinate strategic opportunities (5 hours)
    • Organize customer feedback into market positions and messages (2 hours)
    • Maintain and update the company's website and social media profiles (2 hours)
    • Oversee teambuilding committee and company training committee (2 hours)
  • Other duties as required, including handling administrative tasks such as scheduling meetings, organizing files, and coordinating with vendors

Our ideal candidate is results-oriented, focused on creating or outsourcing engaging content and quickly evaluating the effectiveness of those efforts. You are a self-starter, able to carry out the company's marketing strategy and put together the content to achieve that strategy. You enjoy learning and are curious to try new marketing techniques and tools. Collaborating with our marketing consultants, you will use our customer feedback tools to create consistent messaging and effective marketing campaigns. You are also excellent with technology, able to use common marketing tools and data dashboards. You have strong analytical skills, including data reporting and KPIs using Excel and other common resources. You are able to create content that is interesting and relevant to a diverse group of clients. You are highly-motivated with a great work ethic, and are passionate about marketing. You are very organized, able to keep track of what needs to be done and when, in order to meet objectives.

This a salaried position and the pay range is $90,000-120,000 annually depending on experience. Target Start Date is on or before 6/17/24.

Your work hours will be 8:30a-5:30p and there will be minimal overtime.

This is not a remote position, the office is located in Towson, Maryland.

Job Requirements:

  • Previous management experience preferred but not required
  • Bachelor's Degree in Marketing, Business Administration, or related field; MBA or advanced degree preferred
  • Proven experience in strategic marketing roles, preferably within the legal or professional services industry
  • Demonstrated expertise in digital marketing strategies and tactics, including SEO, SEM, social media marketing, and email marketing
  • Proficiency in marketing analytics tools such as Google Analytics, SEMrush, or similar platforms.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and communicate complex concepts clearly and persuasively
  • Strong analytical mindset with the ability to derive insights from data and translate them into actionable strategies
  • Creative thinker with a passion for innovation and continuous improvement
  • Intermediate experience with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, OneNote, PowerPoint, Teams) and Adobe Creative Suite
  • Experience with Office 365, including SharePoint and OneDrive
