Together, these offices and inventory locations maintain an extensive and comprehensive inventory of track materials across the nation. Job Overview:

We are looking to add a Rail Logistics Specialist who will focus on the most competitive rating of rail car shipments across North America, proper routing of cars to ensure successful delivery to the satisfaction of railroad customers and tracking of rail cars to identify problems with movement at the earliest possible time. By demonstrating customer focus, time management skills, a sense of urgency and the ability to communicate effectively, a successful candidate will create long-term value for the organization.

Requirements:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Providing the most competitive rail car freight rates to our sales team to allow us to win business.
  • Having an open and consistent line of communication with railroad marketing managers and developing lasting relationships with pricing managers, equipment managers, etc.
  • Be the subject matter expert on all issues surrounding shipments via railroads including routing, demurrage, car hire issues, rail carload limits, etc.
  • Use the SCRS tool to identify which railroads serve specific facilities and where and to learn whether those facilities are open switch, closed or available via reciprocal switch.
  • Monitoring rail shipments and identifying/resolving service-related issues at the earliest possible time to reduce delay time in delivery to customers.
  • Interacting with the Sales Team and the company’s warehouses across North America to support rail transportation required to meet customer needs.
  • Monitoring transit times and working with railroads to expedite movement of equipment.
  • Monitoring, analyzing, and reporting of rail accessorial charges.
  • Focusing on fleet optimization and driving economic value.
  • Developing a procedure for successful implementation of these responsibilities when you will be out of office.


Basic Qualifications:

  • Experience in supply chain, transportation, or logistics.
  • Rail operations or rail marketing knowledge.
  • Experience with Microsoft Excel (i.e., spreadsheet creation/editing, pivot tables, data manipulation/analysis and formulas creation etc.) and MS Word (document creation, formatting and editing etc.)


Preferred Qualifications:

· Bachelor's degree in supply chain or similar field of work.

· Experience in customer service.

· Experience in managing demurrage and accessorial service events.
