Middle School Teacher - Humanities (English & History) 2024 - 2025

VALLEY CHRISTIAN SCHOOLS is located in Dublin, California, just 45 minutes due east of San Francisco. Valley Christian Schools is an independent college preparatory school, focusing on Christian Education for preschool through grade 12. REPORTS TO: Middle School Principal

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

Understand or be willing to learn Project-Based and Expeditionary Learning

• Communicate and collaborate confidently and creatively
• Carry out all duties associated with teaching classes and other duties on a teacher’s schedule
• Maintain respectful and cooperative interactions with students, parents, teachers, co-workers, and administrators

Be a reflective educator who models intellectual curiosity

Provide an innovative and creative commitment to education

• Create a classroom environment of respect and maintain a classroom environment where the social and emotional welfare of the students are protected to the best of a teacher’s abilities
• Create a classroom environment that allows a student’s confidence to grow, where students are inspired to think creatively and take risks
• Create a classroom environment where high academic expectations are the norm
• Create well-organized, meaningful, and creative lesson plans that thoughtfully incorporate teaching strategies to further and maximize student learning

Ability to integrate technology into education/curriculum regularly to enhance student learning

Demonstrate skill in fostering a learner-centered classroom environment and challenge students to apply knowledge to real-life problems

• A positive role model for students, taking into account the teacher’s influence on each student’s personal growth, academic ability, passion, and emotional stability
• Attend meetings, including but not limited to weekly staff meetings after school

Actively participate in the school’s culture and participate in school activities and functions outside of the classroom

• Must be a self-directed learner. Be informed about current pedagogical principles and best practices in teaching
• Carry out supervisory duties as directed by the administration
• Uphold the school's mission and act as a positive ambassador for the school

Qualifications:

• BA required
• MA preferred
• Subject area or Multiple Subject CA teaching credential desirable, but may work toward this
• Must reside in the Bay Area
