Job Description

A little bit about the projects:

Vineyard Offshore brings industry-leading experience to the emerging US-based offshore wind market. Owned by Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners, half of the joint venture behind the Vineyard Wind 1 project, Vineyard Offshore is focused on developing projects that will deliver clean, renewable, and cost-effective offshore wind power around North America. In addition to Vineyard Wind 1, Vineyard Offshore currently owns two additional US lease areas that together can generate at least 3.5 gigawatts of offshore wind energy to power a minimum of two million homes along the mid-Atlantic and northeastern seaboards.

A little bit about the job:

Location: New Bedford/Boston/New York

Schedule: 9 AM to 5 PM (Hybrid – 3 days in the office, 2 days… wherever!)

Travel requirements: This position may require travel as well as non-traditional hours.

Reports To: Tribal Lead

The Tribal Specialist will be an integral member of the development team and primarily responsible for supporting the implementation of tribal communication and outreach programs for Vineyard Offshore’s lease areas. The successful candidate will be detail-oriented, eager to learn, and able to effectively prioritize. This position may require travel as well as non-traditional hours.

What you’ll do:

  • Contribute to Vineyard Offshores efforts to ensure effective communication and good working relations with Tribal Nations, including building and managing complex relationships among tribal members and representatives and keeping Tribal Nations proactively informed about project development efforts. Ensure tribal feedback is received in a timely manner and is shared with relevant project team.
  • Support the implementation of tribal communication plans across lease areas and project phases, including site assessment, permitting, and construction and operations, and serve as a reliable point of contact for Tribal Nations and tribal representatives
  • Coordinate and support the drafting of tribal communication plans, creation of presentations and other public materials, and contribute to website updates and social media posts
  • Track and report on Tribal Nation engagement activities and Tribal Nation concerns, and ensure that company communications and activities adhere to a range of requirements and conditions, including federal regulations and other agency stipulations
  • Manage budgets and coordinate contracting, invoicing, and sponsorship requests as well as plan and attend events and meetings as a Vineyard Offshore representative
  • Assist in writing proposals, summarizing data, and documenting company policies for Tribal Nation engagement

What you’ll bring:

  • Bachelor’s and or advanced degree in a relevant field preferred, or equivalent work experience
  • Demonstrated experience working in either a constituent-based or community engagement focused role, comfortable engaging with people from diverse backgrounds
  • Knowledge of or experience working with Tribal Nations, historic and cultural preservation, and/or Section 106 Tribal consultation processes, while not required, is a plus
  • Demonstrated multicultural competence – the awareness, knowledge, and skills needed to work with others who are culturally different in meaningful, relevant, and productive ways
  • Strong communication, writing, organizational, and interpersonal skills as well as an enthusiasm for engaging with people
  • Ability to manage simultaneous priorities in different venues without missing important deadlines or developments
  • Proficiency with MS Office365, including strong Excel data analysis skills and PowerPoint presentation experience; experience with GIS software experience a plus
  • Hybrid work model – must be able to work in our New Bedford, Boston, or New York office a minimum of three days per week
