Job Description
Since 1984, Bundren Painting & Drywall has provided quality finishes to the commercial painting industry. From the small beginnings of a two-man office,  we have grown into a company capable of competing in any market, with projects like NRG Stadium, home to our Houston Texans, N.A.S.A., high-rise condominiums, churches, educational buildings, and cancer treatment facilities like M.D. Anderson, we continue to do our part to shape the community.

Without the strength of the accounting team at Bundren Painting, we wouldn’t be able to offer the industry-leading service we’re known for. We’re seeking an experienced controller to oversee this high-performing team. The ideal candidate will have experience as an accountant in our industry, preferably in a senior role. As a strong communicator and skilled financial analyst, this person will streamline our budgeting and financial reporting processes. The bookkeeper will also produce thorough financial status reports for senior managers to help improve our operational efficiency and aid our continued growth.

Objectives for this role:
Provide comprehensive financial updates to senior managers by evaluating, analyzing, and reporting appropriate data points.
  • Guide financial decisions by applying company policies and procedures to the current economic landscape.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain financial controls and guidelines.
  • Achieve budgeting goals with proper scheduling, analysis, and corrective actions.
  • Help develop and support short- and long-term operational strategies.

Responsibilities:
  • Maintain internal safeguards for revenue receipts, costs, team organizational budgets, and expenditures.
  • Establish (in coordination with the CFO) financial and operating benchmarks, budgets, program monitoring, and reporting standards biweekly, monthly, and annually.
  • Monthly AIA Construction Billings
  • Verification, posting, and payment of all accounts payable and vendor invoices (within the discount period if available) including tracking account balances and verifying expenditures.
  • Verification, posting, and collection of all Accounts Receivable
  • Preparation, maintenance, and balancing of the General Ledger and reconciling entries.
  • Record / reconcile cash receipts and verify bank deposits.
  • Reconciliation of cash and bank statements.
  • Sales and Use Tax Reporting.
  • Preparation of monthly financial statements (Balance Sheet, Income Statement, and Statement of Cash Flow.)
  • Maintain all financial records (and supporting documents) in an orderly, robust, assessable filing system.
  • Prepare projections budgets, and financial analysis as needed and directed by the CEO.
  • Monitor and report on all property, and equipment purchases.
  • Maintain, audit, and report on deposits.
  • Preparation of Daily Flash Reports for the CEO and Project Manager.

Required skills and qualifications:
  • Five or more years of professional accounting experience.
  • Strong understanding of banking processes and financial data analysis.
  • Working knowledge of national and local tax regulations and compliance reporting.
  • Economic principles, financial markets, and banking are all concepts that must be grasped.
  • Strong organizational and prioritization abilities, and the ability to provide high-quality work under short deadlines.
  • Proven financial project management experience.
  • Advanced computer abilities, particularly in Excel.

Preferred skills and qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in business, accounting, or related field.
  • 10 or more years of experience as a bookkeeper/accountant or finance manager.
  • A team player who is willing to go the extra mile to ensure the team’s success.

Compensation:
  • $70,000 - $90,000 depending on experience.
  • Hours of Operation are from 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
