Merchandising Assistant

The Role

The Merchandise Assistant is responsible for supporting the Merchandising and Design team and playing a critical role in the detailed management of the product life cycle process. The Merchandising Assistant will be accountable for sample tracking, sample coordinating, communicating new arrivals to cross functional partners, product uploading, and reporting.

Responsibilities:

• Manage sample process, including accurately sorting newly adopted styles by trend and category and disregarding and or archiving samples on a seasonal basis.
  • Distribute new deliveries to sample lines (including ticketing and displays).
  • Fill requests for photographs of samples as needed.
• Create style boards detailing styles, season, delivery dates, and other product details to effectively communicate necessary information to cross functional teams.
• Develop and maintain accurate assortment sheets. Communicate changes to appropriate business partners on an on-going and timely basis.
• Monitor website to ensure that product is active online and appropriately displayed (image, copy, title, price, color, etc.) on a weekly basis.
• Work with the e-commerce team to resolve any photography/copy issues on a timely basis.
• Document detailed notes and photos for photo shoots and catalog preparation, assist in set up and tear down of Display planograms.
  • Assist in preparing and packing product lines for meetings and tradeshows.
• Participate in weekly cross-functional and open issues meetings with purchasing, marketing, and sales. Build relationships with direct and indirect cross functional partners in purchasing, marketing, sales, and receiving.
• Conduct trend and competitive research.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Education and Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in fashion merchandising, business, or related field.
• Experience in a retail environment and/or experience in merchandise buying preferred. Can be full-time or internship experience.
• Ability to work as part of a team and interact effectively with others.
• Ability to work in a face-paced, dynamic environment
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Detail oriented, organized, and able manage multiple priorities at once; strong time management skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
