Job Title: Director of People and Culture - Charter School
Location: Legends Charter School, Lanham, MD
Job Overview:
As a pivotal member of our Leadership Team, the Director of People Operations plays a crucial role in shaping and steering our Human Resources Department. Reporting directly to the Executive Director of Legends School Operations, this position embodies both leadership and customer service, focusing on fostering our organizational culture and ensuring mission fulfillment through daily interactions with candidates, staff, and stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
● Serve as a pivotal resource for all employees, guiding career development, complex interpersonal conversations, and consultations.
● Oversee all HR activities, strategizing on people operations and enhancing Legacy’s culture.
● Develop and execute annual HR goals, including special plans and initiatives.
● Ensure compliance with federal and local employment laws.
● Create and implement comprehensive HR policies and training programs.
● Analyze and report on key HR performance indicators quarterly.
● Utilize technical skills to enhance HR processes, reporting capabilities, and task automation.
● Manage total rewards benefits plans and recruitment strategies.
● Maintain and evolve the company culture and employer brand.
● Direct new hire orientation, onboarding, and training programs.
● Oversee HR technology changes and employee training and development initiatives.
● Handle and resolve all employee relations complaints by employment law and policy.
● Lead employee engagement, recognition, satisfaction efforts, and the employee separation process.
Requirements:
● Bachelor’s degree required; HR certifications/Master’s degree preferred.
● Minimum of 5 years of experience in a People/Human Resources leadership role within a nonprofit environment.
● Exceptional communication and collaboration skills.
● Data-driven decision-making ability.
● Expertise in legal HR compliance matters.
● Adaptability to rapidly changing demands and priorities.
● Strong organizational skills with the ability to enhance systems impacting all employees.
● Proficiency in verbal and written communication and relationship management.
