Job Description

Job Summary

The IT asset specialist is responsible for managing and maintaining the lifecycle information, status, and compliance of technology-based hardware and software assets across the network or enterprise. The IT asset specialist also defines and implements the asset tracking and configuration management processes, policies, and procedures, using appropriate tools and best practices. The IT asset specialist collaborates with IT project teams and other departments to ensure the proper integration and alignment of IT assets and configurations.


Essential Job Functions

  • Implement and maintain asset lifecycle information, including status, for technology-based hardware and software assets.
  • Track and report on all hardware and software across a network or enterprise; monitor and report on unlicensed installations and prohibited software.
  • Prepare reports and documentation related to software assets including license entitlements deployments, usage and compliance status.
  • Review inventory (physical and automated) for variances with asset database records.
  • Provide assistance and information to procurement.
  • Understanding of software contract entitlements and how the technologies of software discovery systems play their part in mapping entitlements with the inventory.
  • Develop and maintain IT asset management procedures and guidelines to ensure adherence to ITIL best practices.
  • Automate IT asset management and configuration management processes using appropriate tools.
  • Collaborate with IT project teams to ensure configuration management requirements are properly incorporated into project plans and schedules.
  • Continuously evaluate and improve software asset management processes policies and procedures.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent technical / business qualification through experience
  • 3+ years of experience managing ITAM processes and systems.
  • Experience managing and maintaining hardware, software, physical and virtual resources.
  • Experience managing lifecycle refreshment plans of IT assets, including physical, software, and licensing.
  • Proficient knowledge of ServiceNow, advanced knowledge of the SAM Pro / HAM Pro modules a must.
  • Advanced knowledge of IT asset management principles / practices.
  • ITIL V4 foundations certification.
