The Employee Development Specialist coordinates learning activities to meet the needs of the organization. Coordinates internships and volunteer activities. Manages the training budget, the tuition reimbursement program, and system wide training.

RESPONSIBILITIES
- Collaborates with management in identifying performance driven organizational opportunities.
- Researches, recommends, develops, directs and coordinates learning opportunities to meet the library’s needs.
- Actively coordinate training activities and annual Library events. Research vendors and provide recommendations.
- Updates and maintains companywide training calendar. Registers staff for workshops and conferences.
- Collaborates with IT department to maintain all training request forms and reports via SharePoint online process.
- Negotiates fees and contracts with businesses providing training and developmental resources.
- Leads and participates in various Library committees such as Sprit Team and Safety Committee.
- Evaluates training effectiveness and compiles data for management review.
- Assists in developing the training budget in collaboration with management. Monitors training, travel and tuition reimbursement budgets.
- Coordinates the selection and placement of practicum students/interns for the Library in conjunction with schools.
- Reviews travel reimbursement expenditures following pre-established guidelines.
- Coordinates and manages tuition reimbursement and job shadow program.
- Assists with general human resources duties including volunteer application processing, assessments, placement, and all volunteer related tasks.
- Organizes and assists with new hire employee orientation.
- Provides back-up support for all HR staff.
- Provides reports and statistics for management review.
- Attends professional development opportunities.
- Performs other related duties and special projects as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES
- Uses computer software programs such as Microsoft Office and spreadsheets for daily tasks and communication. Familiar with the use of database applications.

- Strong organization skills, time management skills and attention to detail. Successfully leads, supports and/or collaborates on projects and programs.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in HR, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
- Minimum three years of relevant experience.
- Bilingual proficiency a plus.
