Job Summary

The Digital Marketing Coordinator will be responsible for planning, creating, designing, and implementing compelling content for our social and digital platforms. They serve as a subject matter expert regarding the latest trends in social media marketing. This role will support the Marketing, Communications, and Research (MCR) Department on all major campaigns, events and initiatives, actively contributing to the overall development and implementation of marketing and communication plans.


Primary Responsibilities

Marketing Administration

  • Support the Marketing Communications, and Research team by creating and implementing social media strategies with impactful concepts, initiatives, and activities that support marketing goals.
  • Plan, write, design and route for approval all social media posts.
  • Manage the team’s marketing calendar, plan and schedule all agent emails and social posts on all Company social platforms.
  • Collaborate in the development of marketing and communications materials, campaigns, and media outreach and relationships.
  • Create, manage and update digital marketing projects and plans; and manage incoming digital marketing project requests quickly and accurately.
  • Manage social media inquiries, comments and engagement in a timely manner, which may include the need to address urgent or inappropriate issues that arise during off-hours, if needed.
  • Monitor brand reputation and “social listening” for mentions of the Illinois Mutual brand online, working to expand our reach, and report and escalate as needed.
  • Partner with designers to maintain in-house image assets; assist in collecting and managing photography and video footage to complement communication strategies.
  • Follow the established policies and procedures outlined in Illinois Mutual’s Brand Guidelines, processes and associated documentation.
  • Assist with other tasks and duties, as assigned.

Social Media Content Creation and Strategies for Promotion

  • Grow the Company’s current social media presence on all platforms, including Instagram, X (formerly Twitter), Facebook, YouTube and LinkedIn, by implementing activities designed to generate and increase engagement, reach, attract followers and position the organization among its key audiences.
  • Help grow the Illinois Mutual Brand on all social platforms by curating on-going content to populate each channel.
  • Develop creative content, original topics and cohesive campaign themes to effectively meet the needs of, and communicate with, our target audiences.
  • Create monthly and quarterly reports summarizing social media performance—impressions, reach, engagement and overall performance metrics, providing recommendations for improvement by platform.

Email Scheduling, Mailing List Administration and Sales Event Promotion

  • Oversee and maintain contact databases, mailing lists and departmental marketing calendars; assist in maintaining the department’s editorial calendar.
  • Schedule distribution of emails, newsletters, and other digital communications, including podcasts, and news releases.
  • Create and/or manage digital communication for the promotion of various external sales and corporate events, coordinating with key stakeholders across the organization and external partners when needed.

Website and Other Messaging

  • Partner with marketing creative team to create, refresh and reimagine website content and digital promotional messaging.
  • Partner with marketing creative team to create and implement a search engine optimization (SEO) plan that will include content creation and recommendations for SEM, blog and day-to-day website contributions and edits when needed.
  • Serve as a key contributor and member to the planning and execution of the Annual Report which will include participating in brainstorming sessions and content creation for the website, mailer, interview guides, video scripts, emails, and other projects associated with the annual report.


Requirements:

Qualifications and Competencies (Education and Experience):

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, public relations, journalism or a related field required, with a minimum of 2 years of experience in marketing, communications or public relation and emphasis on social media (may include relevant fellowships, externships or internship experiences) or equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
  • Advanced experience with social media platforms is required; demonstrated responsibility for social media management in a professional setting is preferred.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint), Hootsuite, Mailchimp (or similar applications) is required.
  • Proficiency in Canva, Adobe Express and/or Adobe Creative Cloud Applications (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign), Google Analytics and CRM platforms is helpful, but not required.
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, project management and time management skills, with superior attention to detail and the ability to deal effectively with people at all levels is required; must be able to manage multiple projects independently while maintaining quality, error-free work.
  • Must be able to work well independently and in a team environment; must be versatile, self-directed and maintain a high level of professionalism, integrity and confidentiality.
  • Ability to research and analyze various types of data and information is required.
  • Detailed and goal-oriented–must be able to prioritize to accommodate dynamic deadlines.
  • 10% travel required.
