Senior Art Director

About The Job:
The Senior Art Director develops and executes creative marketing ideas to solve client challenges. They focus on all aspects of the creative product, collaborating with an ACD copy to generate ideas and create concepts that are on strategy, on brand, and achieve client objectives. The Senior Art Director acts as an associate creative director on designated projects, leading designers and copywriters and providing strategic direction and insightful feedback to improve the work. They successfully sell creative ideas and concepts to clients and mentors and develop team members. This role reports to the Chief Creative Officer.
Responsibilities:Evaluate assignments and help identify resources and expertise needed to complete projects
Collaborate with account and strategy leads to develop creative briefs
Assist in leading creative kick-off meetings with account and strategy partners; provide direction to art directors and copywriters on roles, assignments/deliverables, and timing; answer questions
Drive creative brainstorms
Provide input on concepting ideas based on knowledge of current trends, pop culture, and current and past design themes
Bring own ideas to meeting and share with team
Build upon other participants’ ideas
Constructively critique ideas discussed
Partner with an ACD/AD to design and create a concept per brainstorming meeting
Throughout all stages of the creative development process, assist in overseeing art director/copywriter teams, aid in evaluating their work, providing constructive feedback, making suggestions, and proposing alternate ways of thinking to elevate the work; help ensure the overall quality and strategic accuracy of the creative product prior to internal reviews and client presentations
Design presentation boards and/or decks; effectively present/sell the creative concepts and thinking to the client
Work with production, directors, photographers, illustrators, and/or editors throughout the production process to achieve the desired creative product as concepted
Troubleshoots when needed, developing unique and actionable solutions to creative challenges
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in advertising, communications, journalism, or a relevant field
5-7+ years of experience as an art director/designer, preferably in an agency or in-house creative department
Basic skills in Adobe Creative Suite applications
Knowledge of current trends, pop culture, and current and past design themes
Comprehensive knowledge of client category, business, and objectives, and a clear understanding of key strategic issues impacting the client’s business
Expert level in Adobe Creative Suite
