Job Description
Company Info

For nearly 50 years, CET has helped people and businesses save energy and reduce waste. As a mission-driven non-profit, we partner with city and state agencies, utilities, homeowners, and business owners across the U.S. to build a just and equitable transition to the low-carbon economy.

We are looking for a knowledgeable, people-centered, culture-builder to join our Executive leadership team as a Director of People & Culture. You will work with the President & CEO and other members of leadership to build a thriving remote culture for 100 employees across 12 states (and growing) while ensuring that our systems and processes are compliant with all US and state laws, regulations and requirements.

This position is being filled due to retirement. We have an excellent foundation of benefits, systems, and cultural initiatives. This is an opportunity for new eyes, ideas, and initiative to take our growing organization to the next level. The Director of People & Culture is a doer-manager role with one direct report. Candidates from historically excluded groups (such as Black/Brown, LGBTQIA, Hispanic) are encouraged to apply.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone with a vision to develop, implement, and maintain the best possible structures and policies so our staff can fulfill their environmental mission. To this end, you will:

  • Work with the leadership team to develop and implement CET's Strategic Plan.
  • Ensure that CET's human resources systems, policies, and procedures are compliant and as effective and appropriate as possible.
  • Promote CET's values and their integration into the remote work culture and environment.
  • Provide leadership for CET's Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion program.
  • Develop and execute long- and short-term strategy for CET's recruitment initiatives and enhance the quality of CET's applicant pool.
  • Ensure CET's culture of communication and feedback is effective, devising new methods and forms when needed.
  • Enhance CET's pay and benefits towards achieving a goal of market leadership.
  • Provide direction, guidance, and oversight for CET's training and development program.
  • Offer guidance, council, support, and mentorship for personnel decisions and actions.
  • Administer CET's HRIS and performance management softwares.

This servant-leader role makes a crucial difference in people's lives. You will bring to this position:
  • A passion for the non-profit, environmental mission of CET.
  • A bachelor's degree with 7-10 year of increasing responsibility in human resources. PHR or SPHR certified and/or Master's degree preferred.
  • Proven leadership and vision aligning human resources programs with a progressive workplace culture.
  • Strong writing and editing abilities with the ability to write policies and procedures that effectively communicate CET's mission and operations.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and motivate staff, with excellent speaking and listening skills. Must have the ability to understand and communicate nuance and empathy while ensuring regulatory compliance.
  • Proficient in MS Office with the ability to research, track and analyze data.
  • High speed internet access and a working location free from distractions and interference during 8:30 am - 5:00 pm EST business hours.

Benefits

CET provides you with excellent benefits including 4 weeks of vacation, 13 holidays, and personal/sick time; medical, dental, and vision insurance; life insurance; disability insurance; and a retirement plan with a 3% company match. CET provides a monthly $85 stipend for your home internet and/or phone expenses.

This is a full-time exempt position. You may work remotely or may work out of our office in Northampton, Massachusetts. CET will provide you with a laptop and other office technology.
