POSITION SUMMARY
The part-time Art Teacher is responsible for instructing and motivating students to appreciate various artistic mediums, as well as art history. They will also interact with parents to provide up-to-date academic and behavioral progress of every student.

Pay Range: $35.00 - $50.00 per hour
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Curriculum and Lesson Planning
- Develops and implements curriculum and lesson plans to foster knowledge and skills essential to student learning;
- Demonstrates concepts using models, technology, and other standard or teacher-prepared instructional aids for inquiry based learning;
- Evaluates each student's progress in their knowledge and skills in all core subject areas and maintains student records; and
- Communicates with parents to review each individual student's progress.
- Integrates school's STEAM focus into Art curriculum lesson plans.
Student Engagement
- Implements engaging teaching and learning methods, and incorporates curriculum standards;
- Inspires and motivates students to learn and integrates effective classroom management strategies;
- Models Christian values;
- Assists in planning activities, programs, and learning experiences that align with the mission of Milpitas Christian School; and
- Establishes and maintains cooperative working relationships with students, parents, and other school personnel.

QUALIFICATIONS
- Be a professing believer of Jesus Christ;
- Sign and follow MCS Statement of Faith & Morality & Ethical Integrity Policy;
- Excellent oral and written skills, organizational skills, and the ability to interact effectively with coworkers, students, families, and outside contacts are essential;
- Possess an authentic fulfillment in working with children while loving them and serving in the calling of Christian Education.
EDUCATION
Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution preferred.
CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, AND REGISTRATIONS
- Preferred current valid state teaching credential; multiple subject for elementary teachers; and
- ACSI certification, or seeking to obtain ACSI certification within 1 year of teaching.
WORK EXPERIENCE
Preferred prior classroom teaching experience is preferred.

- Ability to engage students in a school environment while serving in the calling of Christian Education;
- Knowledge of age-appropriate teaching methods, state curriculum standards, education code, and appropriate instructional subjects;
- Must exhibit a high level of confidentiality;
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, and the ability to interact with coworkers, students, families, and outside contacts;
- Strong organizational, time-management, and problem-solving skills; and
- Team player.
EQUIPMENT AND APPLICATIONS
- Working knowledge of Smart/Interactive Boards; and
- High proficiency in Google Suite, Educational Software, etc.
