Idaho National Laboratory's (INL) Communications and Engagement directorate is seeking candidates for a seasoned COMMUNICATIONS SPECIALIST.
This is a ONE YEAR PROJECT HIRE position with the opportunity to become a Full Time position.
Our team works a hybrid 9x80 schedule located in Idaho Falls, Idaho with every other Friday off!
Job Description :
The Communications Liaison advises and consults on best practices for sharing the organization's message with broad audiences, helping the organization's experts create and tailor their messages to effectively reach target audiences.
  • The successful candidate will be able to stay up to date on organization developments and goals; anticipating communication needs.
  • They will work with experts to understand target audiences, choose effective communication channels, and refine messages appropriately.
  • They will create fact sheets, marketing material, news releases, website content, newsletters, social media, videos, talking points, FAQs.
  • The communications liaison will also assist as needed with presentations and event promotion; coordinate with INL's Communications & Outreach department; and facilitate news media interactions.
  • As an employee based in one organization and working for another, the liaison will maintain regular contact with both home org and work org to understand priorities and the availability of specialized staff.


Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:
PRO200: Bachelor's degree related technical discipline with an emphasis in communications Or Bachelor's degree in communications, public relations, journalism, marketing or a field related to technical communications, and a minimum of two (2) years related experience or advanced degree and one years experience.
PRO300: Bachelor's degree related technical discipline with an emphasis in communications Or Bachelor's degree in communications, public relations, journalism, marketing or a field related to technical communications, and a minimum of five years related experience or advanced degree and three years experience.
Bachelor's degree in related technical discipline with an emphasis in communications
Or Bachelor's degree in communications, public relations, journalism, marketing or a field related to technical communications, and a minimum of five years (5) related experience or advanced degree and three years experience.
Requires prior communications experience, and strong preference for previous experience with science or engineering public communication.
Should have prior experience in public involvement in technical or scientific issues, as well as writing and producing materials for the general public.
Requires demonstrated ability to understand technical principles and communicate technical topics in simple terms.
Should be confident and respectful enough to skillfully negotiate with researchers to achieve mutually agreeable communications materials.
Must demonstrate excellent writing skills and familiarity with AP Style, and excellent oral, digital, social media and visual communications skills.
Must be able to manage several projects at once, work independently, and demonstrate strong analytical and common sense thinking.
Must demonstrate mature news judgment, strategic thinking, flexibility, and be able to prioritize work under pressure to meet deadlines.
Must have excellent relationship management and organizational skills to effectively manage interfaces with administrative, program, and project managers, and staff.

PR0300-Salary Grade 190 ($72,528 - $119,652)
