Local News Editor

The Daily Hampshire Gazette seeks an experienced and digitally savvy local news editor to be part of a hardworking team of journalists focused on covering Hampshire County in western Massachusetts. 

The ideal candidate will be responsible for helping to coordinate and edit local news while assisting with a broad range of editorial needs. The local news editor will play a key role in the Gazette’s digital transformation with the aim of serving readers across multiple platforms and growing its audience. 

The candidate should have exceptional editing and writing skills and be able to bring original ideas and deliver constructive feedback to writers and reporters. Experience with social media and a willingness to dive into reader metrics to better guide our newsroom efforts are required. 

This is a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment requiring strong multi-tasking and organizational skills. The local news editor must be a team player who will be asked to work occasional nights or weekends. The position is based in Northampton, MA.
