The Daily News-Record, in Harrisonburg, Virginia, is looking for a hands-on editor to lead a newsroom of committed, professional journalists in the heart of the beautiful Shenandoah River Valley. This is the newsroom’s top leadership position. 

We have an award-winning paper we want to make even better, building on our strong print traditions to reach new audiences in new ways. If you are an experienced, passionate journalist who believes community news matters and small papers can do big things, we want to hear from you.

The ideal candidate has the proven experience to manage a news team, leadership qualities that inspire creativity and excellence, a hunger for great stories and a vision for how newspapers must change to serve their communities.

Experience developing digital readership and newsletters is a plus. As a key company manager, the editor will be responsible for the newsroom budget. He or she should be familiar with best practices for recruitment and staff management, as well.
