Audience Engagement Editor
Foreign Policy (FP) is looking for a journalist who can work across the magazine’s teams to enhance the subscriber experience on our website. Candidates must display a deep familiarity with the magazine’s content and style and have a flair for writing elegant copy describing and promoting our articles. The audience engagement editor will be in charge of curating FP’s homepage and daily articles to improve recirculation and engagement. They will have superior headline-writing abilities and be comfortable mining data to better understand what our most loyal readers want. The editor will have a keen product-and-marketing mind to go with impeccable editorial taste and judgment.
This is a new position at FP and will require a self-starter who can grow as fast as the magazine. In addition to possessing strong writing abilities and a grasp of global news, candidates should have a familiarity with social media and an appreciation for subscriber-focused journalism. Experience in management would be a plus since this is a supervisory role. The editor will be curious about the world and committed to FP’s mission. They will balance a sense of urgency with an ability to see the bigger picture. The editor will collaborate across teams and must be a skilled and persuasive communicator.
Responsibilities include:
- Daily curation of FP’s homepage and in-article experience
- Helping to curate FP’s new Insider subscription tier
- Helping with article promotion across newsletters, homepage, and social media
- Writing headlines for articles
- Working with FP editors and product teams to grow the magazine’s audience
Requirements include:
- 2+ years of editorial experience at a magazine or subscriber-focused media company
- A demonstrated interest in global affairs
Salary Range: $70,000 - $90,000

Working at Foreign Policy
We are located in Washington, D.C., and while we have a preference for candidates in the D.C. area, we are open to remote applicants. D.C.-based staff are required to work from the office at least one day a month, with all U.S.-based staff convening in D.C. four times a year. FP staff members are encouraged to take advantage of our “One Month From Anywhere” program to work from the location of their choice for one month each year.
