Compensation: $75,000 - $85,000 based on experience.

The Role: The Development Manager is part of a growing team of development professionals working to raise brand awareness and revenue to support the strategic direction of Global Press. The Development Manager is responsible for building, managing, and actively cultivating and soliciting a diversified development portfolio of individuals, foundations and corporations. The successful candidate will be a skilled writer and relationship builder with a passion for the mission and legacy of Global Press. This role reports to the CEO and will play a key role in growing Global Press in a critical growth moment, and as such will have significant upward mobility opportunities.

Responsibilities

  • Implement the organization’s annual development plan, leveraging outreach to current and prospective donors in a compelling and strategic manner

  • Research, identify and prioritize potential funding opportunities

  • Lead writing on letters of inquiry, grant proposals and grant reports for current and prospective funders 

  • Lead the implementation of donor recognition and stewardship activities

  • Lead Global Press’ annual participation in NewsMatch

  • Grow and lead the organization’s events strategy, maximizing opportunities to boost brand awareness and donor stewardship opportunities

  • Ensure compliance with all funder guidelines in grant submissions and reporting

  • Work closely with M&E, editorial and programs staff to co-lead grant reporting to ensure accurate representation of our work and impact

  • Collaborate with the creative team to create compelling fundraising materials, web experience

  • Produce the monthly donor bulletin newsletter to keep donors informed on all Global Press operations

  • Oversee administrative functions, including scheduling donor meetings and maintaining accurate data in Salesforce

Qualifications

The Development Manager is an experienced development professional with a strong desire to support holistic organizational opportunities for growth and excellence. The successful candidate will have:

  • At least 5 years of experience working in nonprofit development

  • A bachelor's degree in a related field such as Business or Public Administration, Non-Profit Management or Humanities

  • Knowledge of Salesforce or other similar donor management software

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills

  • Professional discretion when managing confidential information

  • A passion for the Global Press mission and values

  • Experience in and excitement for working in a multicultural, values-driven organization
