Multimedia Visual Journalist - The Current GA

Coastal Georgia is linked by 100 miles of fragile salt marshes and barrier islands. Population growth is constant, as are the threats to the varied communities there, including the only surviving Gullah Geechee enclave, a tourist-rich city (Savannah), pockets of extreme wealth and poverty, plus 4 Superfund sites and the country's fastest growing port and electric vehicle manufacturing sites. This visual journalist will be asked to tell the stories of the challenges and cultural changes residents face with sea-level rise and fast growth.This position is in partnership with CatchLight.

The corps member will be a CatchLight Local Fellow and along with the host newsroom, be supported by the CatchLight Local Visual Desk.

Salary and Benefits: 
$50,000 to $55,000, depending on experience and skill levels.

Health insurance, flexible vacation schedule, holidays. The Current has an office, but assignments take priority over office work.

This position will be:
Hybrid (some days in the office per week)

Moving Stipend:
Negotiable.
