Director of Content
Summary of Duties:
Northwest Public Broadcasting’s (NWPB) Director of Content is responsible for the development and production of original programming across multiple platforms, collaborating with the Directors of Audience, Development, Marketing and Digital on content strategy, and to produce content from concept to delivery.
The Director of Content will lead NWPB’s transformation from a linear television/radio station to a 365-day multiplatform content publisher serving the residents of Washington with local, regional and national content that is both relevant and enriching to their lives and interests. The Director of Content will develop a vision and strategy for content development and production, cross-platform distribution, and audience development efforts. The Director of Content will oversee the News department, video and audio content creation, and will be expected to establish, oversee and grow a Production Services arm of NWPB.
The Director of Content will also seek to expand the NWPB content production and distribution opportunities through co-productions. Externally, the Director of Content will serve as the public face for content, content related partnerships, helping to build audiences and funders; and public media system colleagues.
Required Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field and six (6) years of progressively responsible relevant experience, which has included at least three (3) years of managerial experience. A Master’s degree in a related field may be substituted for up to one (1) year of the required experience. Education and experience can be tailored to fit the specific organizational entity/directorial assignment.

Experience in multimedia production.

Experience building and leading diverse teams.

Demonstrated experience with a variety of strategies to execute content production that build audience and engage the community.

Demonstrated experience in reading, analyzing, and interpreting general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.

Demonstrated experience in writing reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.

Demonstrated experience in effectively presenting information and responding to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the public.

Demonstrated experience in solving practical problems and dealing with multiple variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.

Knowledge of Microsoft Office and other media production software.
Preferred Qualifications:

Experience in public media/broadcasting.

Knowledge of web-based content distribution applications.

Social media content management.

News reporting or editing experience.
